Lasts one year only though.
I wonder if Windows is going subscription based...
As far as I've been reading, not "free for the first year", it's free to upgrade within the first year. Big difference in wording and I thought it would be subscription based. But Microsoft made it clear if you upgrade in the first year, there will be no cost after a year. There will only be a cost if you miss the 1-year free upgrade window.
"This is more than a one-time upgrade: once a Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, wee will continue to keep it current for the supported lifetime of the device – at no cost."

I'll upgrade for sure. Nice to have the free option.

Oh wow, yeah, the wording I've heard makes it seem like it's only for a year.
Thanks for the correction.

I will probably upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 if my test-run in a VM runs good! :o I skipped Win 8 and 8.1 because, while I ultimately could make Win 8.1 work satisfyingly with a few additional mods by that time Windows 10 was already on the horizon and seems to fix most of what I disliked about Win 8
Although I'll probably keep Win 7 and Win 10 in a dualboot just to be sure :P
And is there any more direct link to the preview or do I absolutely have to sign up for the Microsoft technical mubo-jumbo?^^;;
Also with that my lurker mode is officially over! Ehehe... xD
EDIT: Ooops okay sorry I found the link now :P

Oh dear that sounds annoying, I hope Toshiba will fix that even though I have to say from my personal experience they aren't too great with driver updates :/
And on another note, I couldn't really try Win10 in a VM, Vbox has no graphics driver extension for it yet :(
