Just jumped into the latest Ubuntu build on an old work laptop that's not going to be used by staff again. Upgraded the RAM using another "dead" laptops RAM so it's a 1.7GHz Celeron M 430 and 1GB RAM. Not the best thing in the world, but hey it's free, I'm not complaining ^^; Still using the Unity desktop. Some people have already expressed their opinions of it and I myself am looking to go either Gnome or Fluxbox when I get a chance to dig around. But for now I just want to use the thing. I've never been able to use linux because the only machine I had was my rig and linux never liked the wireless card and compiling the supplied drivers was a pain!

Installed XP on the laptop in the end, games were running in Ubuntu but with graphic issues. But I can't stand the default theme in XP anymore, it feels so...old and stale, so I looked into BBlean which is something I tried using a while back. Apart from the odd closure of blackbox when installing some progs, it's working really nice.
