Dunning–Kruger effect
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%...ger_effect

Friend sent me this, I found it to be an interesting read.

Though I don't fall under the criteria of the most extreme cases, it's quite an interesting hypotheses as I've seen it pop up here and there in my life.

TL;DR of it is basically people who believe that they are infallible in nature are often the one's who are incompetent. So basically if you humble yourself and treat everyone that they have a sense of intelligence (and not refer to them as lol fudgeing retards, that feel when people are not as smart as you etc.) you can find flaws within yourself (or others can point out your flaws) and fix them to become a more competent person.

Don't be an asshat and take legitimate criticism well and you'll find with the help of others you can become a better person.

Anyway, as this is a theory and what not, take it with a grain of salt (not to mention there ARE exceptions to all of this). It's just that, morally, I agree with this in the first place and it makes sense too if you think about it, how can you fix something that you aren't aware of?

I cannot take what nukez says to be constructive speech unfortunately... So I can't follow this rant to the T, so there's one example of not following suite.

[8:53:29 PM] Liams: nothing too special about it
[8:53:55 PM] Liams: i wouldn't be so audacious as to call it an effect and attach names to it
[8:53:59 PM] Liams: hahaha
[8:54:01 PM] Jordan: twas what i was thinking
[8:54:12 PM] Jordan: kinda a personality thing than anything
[8:54:56 PM] Liams: some people sure love to talk about poo poo on the internet
[8:55:08 PM] Jordan: that's what its for
[8:55:13 PM] Liams: i like how this guy is so angry about people
[8:55:22 PM] Liams: can't he just cherish all our flaws?

[8:57:13 PM] Liams: aside though
[8:57:24 PM] Liams: he's getting all moral on our asses
[8:57:41 PM] Jordan: he usually does
[8:57:43 PM] Liams: what's with the 'be a better person' sermon
[8:57:56 PM | Edited 8:58:04 PM] Liams: this is teletubby material
[8:58:18 PM] Jordan: yea well
[8:58:23 PM | Edited 8:58:25 PM] Jordan: just wanted to see what you thought
[8:58:27 PM] Jordan: cause i don't
[8:58:41 PM] Jordan: don't give it enough thought or attention
[8:58:48 PM] Jordan: to even form an opinion
[8:58:53 PM] Liams: hahahah
[8:59:17 PM] Jordan: i got to stop doing that i think though
[8:59:26 PM] Liams: i hope this guy is happy all of the time
[8:59:27 PM] Jordan: or my brain might wither away
[9:00:03 PM] Liams: i hope that everytime this guy sees a bird he smiles at it and it brightens up his day
[9:00:54 PM] Liams: and when he's older, he'll go to the supermarket just to buy pet food for the spca cause it feels so good

It was too redundant for my tastes after I read it (I was so flipping tired last night)

What type of teletubbies does your friend watch? I'm interested.

I also find it interesting that you try to discern how I feel about life from my words, it's an interesting thought but I don't see the reason behind it, maybe that's the reason you read my blog?

This is not MY material, but it was there and it was an article slapped with a name, because I pay respect to thoughts/ideas that aren't my own, I used it like any other respecting person should and talked about how I felt about it.

I think I DO need to stop being so personal with my writing and directing it at others because it pulls the readers interest as to "why is THIS guy telling me this" and it sort of provokes the reader into thinking about the source of the information rather than the information itself, thanks for pointing it out. I'm sorry that you feel somewhat intellectually threatened by my words, it's defeating the purpose of what I want this blog to be.

Also on the contrary, I'm a pretty happy person, but other than the reasons above, I don't know what you guys were trying to get at, please enlighten me.

RE: Dunning–Kruger effect
Eh, most people high up in the corporate hierarchy actually know poo poo all, despite what they think.
But because of that, they're filthy rich.

Whilst it's nice to know your shortcomings, being arrogant can get you places.  Being able to do both is nice, but can be challenging.
In other words, ignorance is bliss.

I agree with you, I also think there's a point where you don't really need to know your shortcomings because they are few and maybe not matter. I think it's more of a thing where you just give up on the point of questioning yourself and use what you have instead of always second guessing and improving yourself but never really DOING anything with your newly acquired skill/understanding.

I think it's more fair to say that people risk not becoming more competent when they don't believe they need to be any more, some just choose a time to think like this when they aren't really all that competent and that can really downplay on their ability.

Basically sums it up in one line. :P

I write a lot of spoon that's unnecessary and never proofread until a long time after when I find the time to. I'm the type of guy that will write out huge articles only to scrap them when they aren't of a quality that pleases me. Sorry about that :(

Though I am curious, does it cause problems if I delete a lot of posts?

Also s-s-s-stop reading things I didn't mean to say! :(
