[SOLVED] Uninstall Leftovers
Hey Guys,
I installed a transformation pack in my laptop. It's a good thing I have a System Restore Point because I didn't like it. So, I restored my laptop but unfortunately, the AC was removed from my laptop which only runs with it (my battery's broken so I only use the AC Adaptor). So when I opened my laptop again, I saw that my computer was back to normal except for this Windows 7 splash screen. The computer said that the restoring was interrupted and I should do it again. But when I did it again, still the same results. Then I looked trough my computer and I saw that the program was already uninstalled but it has leftovers in C:/WINDOWS/. It's full of images and sounds (bitmaps, avi's and etc). And guess what, I found the splash screen there (the Windows 7 splash screen that appears during startup). Well, I guess those are leftovers that weren't deleted with the uninstaller. Should I delete the whole folder? I'm getting nervous because it's inside C:/WINDOWS and I don't want to delete necessary files. Thanks.

*EDIT*
I talked to my cousin and he told me I should just delete the folder and he promised me nothing will happen. So, I did what he made me do and restarted the computer. It was a success! Nothing happened, it was back and as brand new. I took a look at my computer again, checking if there are still any leftovers of the transformation pack. I saw one, when I was taking a look at the System Properties. It should display the Asus image (the logo of me laptop). And I found the image in system32 named as oemlogo.bmp. SkyDX helped me with replacing it. I downloaded an original oemlogo.bmp which looks like my previous one and everything's back to normal. Thanks for all the help guys! Thanks for the suggestions. I think that Sevenmizer wasn't much of a problem cause it didn't caused any damage at all :)

RE: Help: Uninstall Leftovers
I don't think deleting the folder would work out well.. if you get rid of files your computer is relying on why booting you could run into some issues if there's no fall back.

Do you not have an earlier restore point? And why did you use a transformation pack in the first place? (I assume it's a new Windows installation?)

Corrupt some file in the windows directory. System Repair might solve the problem then. But if you don't have another pc on your hands, I seriously don't recommend doing that.

Ok. I have an earlier restore point but I don't think It'll delete the folder. I used a transformation pack for turning windows xp to windows 7. So, before it installs the transformation pack, it created a restore point (but I have an earlier restore point with the same day). So, maybe I'll try to go to the earlier restore point.

If it takes you back to a point where all the transformation has been reversed, I should think the folder in question should be removable. What's it called?

ProperBritish's suggestion is good too.

The program is Sevenmizer. It should be removed because when I used the system restore point, the whole program was already uninstalled. It really just left this folder (C://WINDOWS/Sevenmizer) there. It contains some images (bmp, png), some avi's, some .res and some .bin files. I really don't know what to do. I'll try ProperBritish's suggestion :)

Just "Sevenmizer"? Sounds like it shouldn't be a problem to remove so long as all of the transformations are gone and everything is back to normal.

You know Sevenmizer? Yes, that only. Everything is back to normal, yeah, just except that stupid win7 splash screen. Oh, yeah, what am I suppose to do. I really want it gone and so I can delete the Sevenmizer folder in C://WINDOWS. It really bugs me whenever I see that splash screen. So, can I delete it. And if I delete it, won't it cause anything bad?
