Anyone ever have a router that just didn't take a shit on them?
Anyone ever have a router that just didn't fucking take a shit on them at odd donkey intervals?
I like the wireless mobility that routers provide but I swear. I've been using D-Link my entire life and at some point or another I'll be using the internet and life will be good and then it's like the router goes
BAM TIME TO HAVE A FUCKING SHIT FIT. I'll disconnect everyone, reset the connection, and sit here freaking out for a whole minute. Just long enough for you timeout of everything you're doing, have fun :D
I swear to god... it's not a regular occurrence sometimes it could happen daily othertimes it could be a month sometimes I'll have no problems for 6 whole months, but at some point or another it always fudgeing happens
It's something I've come to just see as "normal" with routers, but I'm getting kind of sick of it and think it's kind of bullchocolate
So has anyone ever NOT had this problem? If so what brand of router was/is it, because I'm fudgeing taking my money to that company...

RE: Anyone ever have a router that just didn't take a shit on them?
Our old modem (modem router, can do both) would disconnect like every 30 seconds once you reached speeds around 500KB/s on a wireless connection. So what wee did is just stick another router (wee had lying around) into the modem via ethernet, and wee connected wirelessly to the router instead.
And then a few months ago the piece of shit just screwed up completely and would randomly disconnect for like 6hrs periods. So I went fuck that, and got a replacement.

Wireless = unreliable
Why I don't use wireless.

Router's on 2nd floor, I'm on 3rd floor.
Me------------------------------Stairs
router-----------------------Stairs
Have to wireless, otherwise I'll need like a 100M ethernet cable. Router's like directly underneath me, stairs are on the opposite side of the room.

...of course, wired is better unless you don't have that option. Then you've got to put up with the unreliable nature of wireless.
Ethernet over power may be a solution.
Or just get a big drill and stick that wire down there.

I find ISP routers, no matter how crappy they are (and they can be really crappy) tend to be the most reliable on their connections.

Could you not use a Powerline solution?

RE: Anyone ever have a router that just didn't take a shit on them?
Ironically, I've never had an issue with my router. Ever. Always up, always ready. It was a cheap, local-tech-retailer-branded router, and I love it.
The modem, however, is a different beast altogether. "Oh, you're uploading a video to youtube, and it's going to take two hours? Okay, I'll just freeze the fudge up and drop your internet connection altogether, have fun resuming that spoon."
TL;DR: Dynalink can't make modems for spoon, DSE do okay routers.

^ I think if all had modem-to-router setups then wee'd be saying the same. It seems like most of us have "modem routers".
