RE: PC or Console
PC cause you don't have to buy-er never mind. Seriously, though, it depends on the genre. Developers nowadays are leaving the PC behind, because of the availability of consoles, not to mention that they have the infrastructure and backing of Sony and Microsoft. (Oh, and Nintendo, but everyone just buys the Nintendo games and ignores the crappy third-party ports).

And generally if it's not an xbox 360 pad support is poor (i don't like the 360 pad, too chunky)
I actually prefer the keyboard+mouse over a gamepad for gaming. Probably because I mainly play RTS' and FPS', both of which mouse + keyboard > gamepad. I don't really play many fighting games or stuff where gamepads are better.
And for the argument regarding cost, you need a PC anyway, even if you're not going to game on it, so the base costs of getting a PC are inevitable. it's only the extra gaming related costs (eg. getting a good GPU) that should be counted, and that wouldn't really cost more than a console.

RE: PC or Console
If I had my own way of living, I would connect the PC to the living room, sit on the couch and play the fudge out of every emulated console out there
Consoles are great as well but with PStore, XBOX market and Wii Store making each old gen games worth 6-10 bucks a pop I don't see why I couldn't go PC and get it for free. Also Steam has way better deals. =3='
PC as a whole has a larger variety of games and better ways to play it than the consoles and if you feel like multi-tasking lets say you're playing Final Fantasy IX and half-way you're thinking, "If I were Zidane I would totally bang that horse girl along with Garnet", minimize window open Fuckbrowser 5 and start fapping away endlessly. Then once you're finished bathing away you're shame you can maximize the window and continue where you left off, hehe you can't do this on a console I can assure you
The only reason I own them is because of the fudgeing exclusive stuffs that I can't seem to live without, and that's saying a lot because of the spoon games that are out there today...sometimes I wonder why I even own them :\

I also prefer keyboard because I feel I can react faster and more precisely using my fingers instead of my thumbs. This applies for shmups mostly.

I assume you're talking about emulating PS2/GC/Wii, because anything PSX/N64 generation or older is a piece of cake on all non-8yo CPUs.
You'd want to have Core i5/i7, to be safe (they're cheap nowadays anyway). Core 2 will lag you on the really hard games unless you're willing to overclock to 4GHz and also use speed hacks.

driver didnt work ?
just couldn't get it to work,. i will try your link again,. when i get home,. ;)
Made this thread because i am playing loads of games on the PS3 but the same games prob look so much better on a good new gaming PC,. eg nvidia590gtx with directx11,.. :( thus i am considering to switch to the PC again,.. prob missing out on the trophies,. and the comfort of a console eg no driver issues and fast power-on and power-off etc,. ;p
mebbe the 590gtx will drop in price soon,. or even better,. mebbe Sony decides to come up with the PS4,. ;p (read something about a 10x better graphics performance on the next gen console >> PS4??)
i did vote PC but i am still in between,. hehe
edit: mebbe i tried the x64 driver wich didn't work 100% ;)
