Popstation FF8 problems
Okay, so I tried searching and either I'm not searching enough, or I'm stuck.

I wanted to play FF8 on my PSP so I went and got the PSN version however, the game freezes whenever I use scan and draw in the same battle scene. I heard using popsloader fixes that issue and more except that the menu for it won't come up with the PSN release. So I went to make my own eboot.

Following this tutorial: http://www.maxiconsole.com/psp-help-tuto...eezes.html
The image files for the disks are .img.emc (or ecm?) files and only disk 1 has a cue. So I just selected the .img.ecm files for all 4 disks. The converter also asked for the individual IDs for each disk so I just entered the one tutorial recommended for all 4 disks.

And after that, well the popsloader menu will the appear but now the game won't even start up. It blacks out after the disclaimer screen.

By the way, using 5.00 M33-4

RE: Popstation FF8 problems
There is a fix for it apparently, but I just can't get my eboot to work.
I suppose I can go the whole game without casting scan...

Sparker update man. Get on a 6.xx pro or ME firmware.

PSN psp games on the latest firmware run fantastically, also when using the popsloader plugin you usually have to test a few to find out which one the game likes best. When i used to use popsloader back on m33 and GEN i always used 3.71pops and 4.0pops, those worked the best.

I was going to but I remember before when I asked what firmware I should update to and I heard that m33 and gen were still the best firmwares for 1000's.

Yeah, I haven't been active in the PSP scene for a long time. And is there either of the two firmwares you recommend? And if you could can you (or anyone else reading this) link me to someplace where I can get started?

RE: Popstation FF8 problems
I would recommend 6.39ME ust because im on it.

I try use FFVIII on it again and if it still dosnt work then converting your own disc should. Im about to get a psn copy of FFVIII myself, so ill tell you if it works for me.

As for updating: http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/showthr...?tid=26342

You want section 4 of that thread.

RE: Popstation FF8 problems
No problem, as for plugins etc that work on that firmware you want this thread: http://endlessparadigm.com/forum/showthr...?tid=27582

Hopefully that will solve any compatibility issues with any plugins that you do use that may not work on 6.39ME.

RE: Popstation FF8 problems
ill second 6.39ME, on the grounds that i completed FF8 successfully under it, with no issues whatsoever, and liberal use of Scan and Draw
