I'm generally fairly random, and felt like i could contribute with personality, but i brought an air of newbishness and general lack of know-how, and saw more and more of it follow me. I'm sure that contributed to what has turned off several of the more senior members who used to be much more active (where the hell's liquid? i wish he would stop by even rarely <shrug> ).
that being said, i know that i have learned here, on EP, more in a shorter amount of time, than i have most other spots i frequently lurk. i think the abundance of mods is a detriment. senior member status is a good reward for consistency, ie visiting and contributing frequently, but mod-dom should be reserved for the more knowledgeable among us. i wouldn't mind offering up my mod status to see EP move in that direction, in the hopes that some of the more senior dudes who are shying away come back and speak up more. give them their due i suppose.
also, and i understand the word random is part-in-parcel to the site, but how the hell can some people claim the site's decline is due to less and less random stuff being posted? if you put too much emphasis on simply keeping the amount of random content up, every bit of that random content is going to get crappier and less thought out. i imagine it would be noticeably cyclical if wee just let people do what they want, and not pressure randomness.
my 2 cents.
i like the way you think
NOOB!!
just kidding eggroll

meh, there's far more noobish people than u.
I've seen people who are just dumb beyond comprehension... and what's worse, they think themselves to be pro... look at some of their posts, these idiots has no f**king idea, they write some complete bullchocolate that would never work, that a 10 yr old can do better than, and there'd be a chain of other idiots who praise it and say how good it is... and then someone who actually knows something points out that it wouldn't work, then "lets call each other effing noobs war" starts... very disturbing.
Not referring to anyone here, most of them on some Guild Wars forums i sometimes go to... Guild Wars being a skill based game, noobishness is easily noticable.

Yeah, probably be better if there are less mods. Too much mods also make the position less "prestigious", i mean being a mod doesn't mean much here, 70% of the active people here are mods. The rest of which are mostly seniors. That's kinda screwed up.
But i don't think the people are shying away because there are too much mods here. That's probably not the reason.

yeah after some sleep and a bit of breakfast, my brain rethinks that and agrees. also it remembers how self-deprecating i can be sometimes, when in the mood. :]

RE: Remember when this site sucked?
Maybe stricter settings for sigs should be enforced.
Some sigs are just way too big [file size and dimensions]...
