I think I mentioned this before in another thread, but it's a bit more difficult to do that with a TV because, with a handheld, most people will be looking at it directly, and won't be too far away. Even so, the 3DS requires you to manually tune the 3D effect to get it right (theoretically, it may be possible to use sensors to detect where your face is and adjust, but there's probably reasons for not doing this) and you have to hold it straight. With a TV, you don't really have these assumptions.
There are TVs which try to do something similar to the 3DS, by projecting many (like 9) different images in different directions, though you still have to sit in a "sweet spot" to get the effect.
yah i had recall,. i also recall me saying that the 3ds also works quite well angling to the side,.. imo with a tv the screen is much bigger and you already have a better view,. i was kinda referring to the lcd angle and this also have been improved in due time,.. anyway i got HIGH hopes,. :)

RE: Your thoughts on 3D?
Never tried. Wouldn't be lying if I said I didn't want to but I know I'm in for disappointment.

RE: Your thoughts on 3D?
Does not work as advertised.
I'll wait for the Star Wars-type 3D holographic display.

RE: Your thoughts on 3D?
as ive owned now a 3DS, might say its a gimik, since the 3D here is still of no use, but its fun anyways checking Augmented Reality objects in 3D, but some games may help the depthness of the 3D in 3DS as was stated by some game devs, lol
anyways even its a gimik, wee still watch 3D movies in Big screen, and its bad to have more than 2 hrs of 3D as it will strain your eyes
anyways its Avatar started 3D gimmickry in cinemas, by the way how many months a gimmick stays?

RE: Your thoughts on 3D?
If it's actually beneficial with practically no downsides, it can last a long time, but if there's downsides (eg people getting headaches), probably not as long. Then again, wee're at the mercy of the companies, so who knows... If all TVs eventually become 3D, everyone will eventually have one.
When the Wii came out, I thought the motion thing was mostly a gimmick that would get old after a while. From what I've seen, after the initial hype, that seems to be the case, but there's little downside to controlling with a Wii-mote, thus is here to stay.
Same thought with the iPod clickwheels (personally think they're stupid actually).

RE: Your thoughts on 3D?
Read this today:
Quote:Humans use at least 5 tricks to determine the three-dimensional makeup of a scene:
1. Focal depth: based on how much the eye's lens has to focus
2. Convergence: based on the slight differences in pointing of the two eyes to a target
3. Stereopsis (static parallax): based on the slight differences between the left and right eye images
4. Motion parallax: based on the different displacements/motions of objects at different distances (e.g. as you move your head)
5. Visual inference: reconstructing using cues like occlusion, lighting, etc.
In essence, 2D gives #5.
Current 3D gives #3 (giving each eye a different image).
Stuff like the head tracking mechanism for the Wii developed by some guy a few years back gives #4.
But because wee can't do #1 or #2, wee'll be getting headaches regardless of the implementation.

RE: Your thoughts on 3D?
%^^that's very interesting,.. but can't really understand how 5 3D aspects only show 3 with 3D vision and 5 with 2D vision,. O_o hehe but i understand ;p
The glasses can't really replace(for a 2D screen) whot the human eye already can(in reality),. ;)
NOw that i have tried the 3DS,.. i can't really hope for a 46" tv to work the same,. seeing that the 3D effect is behind the screen and not inftront of it,..
