Oh, also, don't download Coalgirl's BD releases for this.  Just download the DVD rips.

According to this post, and the screenshots it provides, it's blurry as shit and obviously not true 720p quality (like REALLY obvious).  I mean, you really don't want to download 1 fucking GB each episode for this, do you.

Actually, most of the encodes for this are pretty horrible I remember.  The video's like VFR (mostly 30000/1001 I think), and noone back then knew how to VFR, so like most of the encodes out there stutters (jerky pans) and are horrible, especially ones that decimated to 24000/1001 (animefin, KAA, lol fucking CoalGirls in 2010).

I used LRE I remember back then, and they were decent in that the video didn't stutter, but they were like quite blurry.  Maybe try anime-mx and E-D (I haven't tried them but anidb says they are VFR encodes).

RE: ZiNgA's Quick Review thread
double you tee eff how blurry can you get.

Highest rated release is cestfaite, and a commenter said it's better than E-D's release - I thought sourcing it was gonna be an issue... looks like I'm in luck (still pretty big files though. reminds me of niizk).

Wait, does the TV braodcasts of this stuff have horrorbad looking censoring?  Or is it not one of those shows...  Because if it has terrible censoring, then I probably should get BD rips instead (if I choose to finish watching it).

A lot of the middle episodes are pretty damn boring.  Aria I mean.

I don't recall censoring.
Then again, I generally don't pay too much attention to that.

She dropped it after a single episode, lol.

RE: ZiNgA's Quick Review thread
Finished Ever17 at like 4am yesterday.  8.5/10.

At the start you may be thinking this is probably going to be another cheesy love story or something.  But by the time you get to the true end, there wouldn't be any speck of that thought left.  Pretty much this whole thing is a huge mindscrew, and is pretty awesome.  It's surprisingly well crafted in how everything is relevant and ties in nicely at the end and there are very very few plot holes and inconsistencies, when you'd expect heaps for a story like that (EDIT: actually, no, there are still a decent amount of unexplained stuff...).  And the writer for this actually knows enough scientific/technical knowledge so most of the stuff he writes makes at least some sense and are mostly plausible, rather than simply spitting out technically/logically implausible bullshit all over the place, which happen way too often in anime (no, you cannot hack into a high security computer in 5 minutes by hand, and you cannot beat a non-retarded person in chess without loosing a since piece, that's not sci-fi, that's bullshit-fi).

The down sides are that some of the earlier events and some of the routes aren't very interesting, and you're forced to read them in order to get the final.  And the final route spends at least 1/2 the route sort of going through evens of earlier routes (but different-ish, so you can't skip :\).This reactions picture (not by me) is sort of what it's like, except Sara's route is really sweet and actually nice (imo).  Also, while the final route is good, it's not like as good as others say it is (that is, absolutely godlike).

Anyway, the ratings for this are like way fucking high.  But imo it's somewhat overrated because this is one of the most popular "starter VNs", is released way before any other "good" titles are, and also contains no H content.  This leads to a younger average audience who likely haven't read many if any VNs at all prior to this, younger and fresher both translate to higher ratings.  Err... not that stuff like F/SN aren't overrated...

Started watching Bakemonogatari again, after like 5 stalls or something.

The second image's censoring i didnt mind, omamori himari was just about bearable. However, Onii-chan no koto zenzen suki janain dakara ne!!'s style of censoring is so obvious it really irritates me. They may as well replace the penguins and cats with 'BUY DVD NOW YOU CHEAP OTAKU'

If i remember correctly, KissxSis did the same stlye of censoring too.

RE: ZiNgA's Quick Review thread
I've never minded censors much lol.  I do recall one in KissXsis which made what was actually happening a bit harder to tell than plainly obvious.
I actually half-like the censors in Onii-chan no Koto, lol.

Mitsudomoe OVA is pretty much like an extra episode on the main season.
Fortune Arterial OVA is a waste of time IMO.

RE: ZiNgA's Quick Review thread
Saw the Death Note movies (live action).  Overall, very much shortened version of the TV series, and IMO not as good, but not too bad if you consider the time constraints (though not great either, since the two movies combined is longer than 3 hours).
I'm a little shocked at the ending though.
Spoiler:
I mean, they introduced some quirky "rule?" about someone in possession of the Death Note cannot be killed - double you tee eff?
Rating wise, I'd say it's reasonable - not great.
