I'd upgrade the hard drive and ram and it would just be a torrent box or just for P2P.

i'd sell it. for an newer one. i mean its not going to get all the way there... or keep it and play old school games on it.

i would use linux. ubuntu or fedora. and just surf on it a bit or somet

I'd just use it for general purpose writing stuff and some programming.

upgrading HDD and RAM for a computer with a cpu that can't take advantage of the upgraded HDD and RAM is pretty pointless. If u want to upgrade, u need to upgrade everything.

I say don't bother trying to upgrade. Since u would pretty much need a complete upgrade, and that will cost u more than getting a new laptop. + laptops are hard to upgrade.


I would just sell it.

Don't even think of XP or Vista.

XP takes long enough to load on my old 666mhz laptop with 196mb of RAM for make me consider downgrading to 98. Ur comp is 3 times slower with half the memory = XP would run VERY craptastically.

For people interested in 98, 98lite is an interesting modification - 200MHz computer with 98lite loads faster than a clean XP on my AthlonX2 4200+...

Though 98lite is kinda fiddly to get working properly, and, since it uses parts from Windows 95, you need a copy of that as well.

You _really_ won't get it's worth selling it IMO.  "Super cheap" new laptops (targeted primarily towards 3rd world countries) these days can go as low as $100, and they have way better specs...
