Hey guys. I have a problem with the theme that I'm creating. I started on it some time last week and managed to change the font, create the battery bar, change the background, change the opening_plugin.rco, and create the main menu icons. The problem is, when I edited the topmenu_icon.rco with RCO Mage and replaced the icons, the font reverted to the old psp font and the icons disappeared. The only thing that showed that I really edited the topmenu_icon.rco is that the System icon is changed.

Sorry I new to making themes so I don't really know what to do. The only thing I know is that here at EP resides the PSP Theme Gods Aha

By the way, I used the vshmain.prx of the Booster theme. I don't know much yet of hex-editing and I found that theme's vshmain.prx useful because the waves are not there, the 01-12.bmp are wallpapers, and the float for the xmb icons are different from usual.

And here's my pre-beta ctf. It's really messy as of now since I'm just starting. Please check it and see if you can find the problem there. Thanks! Yay

The font shouldn't have reverted to the old one simply by editing the rco with rco mage.... :/ perhaps you deleted something you weren't supposed to... or your font isn't in the right folder... :/

Anyways I'll take a look

edit: took a peak and there's no font file... you're gonna have to put it back in...

also there's a folder called "advanced"... i make themes for 5.50 gen and 5.00 m33 and have never seen that... you might be interested in deleting that folder...

also what firmware is this for?

The advanced folder is a folder that I made which would be the files that I would edit next after finishing the basic structure of the ctf. I was making this theme for 5.50 GEN by the way. Anyway here's the new theme file with the font folder included and with some changes I made (I deleted the names of the categories (i.e. Game, Photo, etc.)). I hope those changes doesn't make the problem much more complicated. Thanks again Yay

BUMP. Its been some time since I posted this and no one still has a solution here. Sorry if bumping's not allowed but I really need your help guys. Please please please. I really wan't to learn how to create PSP themes on my own but I'm having these problems now. I would really appreciate your help.

I haven't had a look, but as said, RCOs should affect the font, especially topmenu_icon.
Have you tried restoring the original topmenu_icon to see if the font comes back?
Does topmenu_icon have anything other than icons?
Also, check the resolution and color depth of the images you replace with - if they're too large, they can exhaust the available resources on the PSP.

Your BMP is full size 384 kb 400 227 its still big with combination of 650 kb topmenu_icon.
And why you have 4 fonts in this theme ? i see shadow font file ,in my experience shadows use alot of resources.

I looked colsely at the topmenu ... everything seems ok the not used files are 1x1 and still you have 6 images , and the total size is 650 kb of the file.
You should try to reduce the colors of the image (images) everyone and try to use only LTN0 font , i guess you might also want to use the JAP font ?
Use PHotoshop to reduce the color of your images. Im sure here somewhere is a tutorial , if you don't know how.

I see. I'll try deleting the jpn0.pgf, kr0.pgf, and shadow.pgf files. I included them in the theme because I thought that they might help when I finish my theme and some people would want use japanese of korean font. Just so that they won't miss out on the font. Madwin

Also, I'll search around for the tutorial on reducing the colors of the images. What would be the maximum file size that topmenu_icon.rco could handle? And what would be the maximum total file size for all of the theme files?

Anyway, does someone here also have vshmain.prx bookmarks? I downloaded some here but I am confused with some of the bookmarks. Some of them have multiple "X position of XMB" or something like that parts. I am confused with which is the real one. I saw some bookmarks which look noob-friendly but they are for 5.00 prxs. I really need Hex Workshop bookmarks that arent confusing. Thank you again everyone, especially to gsmoke! Yay

I'll upload another version if any problem happens again. I probably won't be able to do more stuff on my theme since I have a lot of exams coming this week. I'll just try to do my best and learn this theming stuff.

EDIT: I managed to make the images appear up to the video category. I did that by changing the Colors to 64. However, the Game, Network, and PSN categories are still not showing. I don't know if changing the Colors to 32 is still viable since the I find the images already at low quality, but if that's the only option, then I have no choice but to reduce the Colors to 32. Do you guys have any other idea to make the categories show?
