Seems nice, but the problem is windows is a chocolatety touch OS. If they make a better UI this would be cool toy to have.

RE: Asus Eee Slate - Core i5 Windows tablet
The good thing is you can use this as a tablet on the go, like an iPad, as long as you have apps that are useful with touch. But then you can also use it to take decent notes cause it has a stylus, and you can use it with all your standard Windows applications whenever you have a desk with a keyboard and mouse (and a bigger screen).
I thought about it earlier and they should probably make some kind of 'media center' app, like iOS, that you can run on top of Windows. Give it an app store...

Well then ubuntu is a solid gold os that's covered in platnium, and studded with diamonds

RE: Asus Eee Slate - Core i5 Windows tablet
Windows XP and Vista have poo poo touch support, but I've used windows 7 touch, and it's great. the only problem was my arm got tired because it was a desktop monitor. With a tablet platform this device will be amazing.

windows uses about 1GB to 1.3GB idle on clean, i can see this working fine. If you disable Aero (which it probably won't have or need for that matter), even less memory. Word uses 20MB RAM in use, as do most MS Office suite programs. Internet is not demanding either, and you're never going to want to play tinny music out of its speakers at the same time. This thing's designed to be ultraportable, and it seems to do that great. All i wonder about is battery life :/ No performance issues here, it's no gaming rig and it never ever will be.

Oh come on. I have 4gb ram in my old mac, and i can run 2 browsers, photoshop, utorrent, my text editor, music, and then still virtualize Windows 7 and run ms office or whatever fine. You don't need more than 2GB ram for it to be usable.
