if you're planning to put more than one OS on there (regardless of if its windows, linux, osx, whatever) save yourself some trouble right now and repartition. make one giant ntfs partition and put all your music/pictures/video/documents/downloads on there. that way, all the other OS's that you install can grab what they need from there, and can stick things there as well, so you can easily transfer files from OS to OS, and don't have to duplicate your multimedia for each OS.

Thanks for the heads up. Makes sense. I'll do just that ^^

RE: New laptop and hard drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's great to hear hellgiver! Hope it's everything you're expecting it to be
------Now onto personal opinions-------
Personally I can never like gaming laptops of this age, too big and heavy, wastes battery in a jiffy, and they aren't that portable if you consider that their powerblocks are probably freaking huge, making them hard to tote if you want to setup somewhere on a desk at school/work. In my opinion, they defeat the idea of a laptop, they're "moveable," but surely you can't expect to have an easy time moving one around; it would be like being confined to a desktop in a sense.
Which brings me to the point that i have a hugeass desktop (well, it isn't that big; but it's still pretty powerful) built for power usage and gaming (I seriously don't game if i leave my house and if i need to, i got a psp), having a nice netbook or light laptop would be pretty much all you need for taking it to the outside. Give me a windows tablet to salivate over :P; I'm killing to find the perfect one these days...
The only thing that has got going with gaming laptops are the specs, but wee ALL know that those get outgunned in a few months; that's why a chocolatety netbook or light laptop will keep up it's mettle because it does the basic tasks for a long time and keeps it's shape.

RE: New laptop and hard drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is truly amazing is that it really does not get that hot, and it does exactly what I want it to. If necessary, I'll buy a 2nd battery or something, and have a power save mode (not much good that'll do considering the components), but the main thing is that I am going to be inside, near a plug most of the time. Power shouldn't be that big a problem.
As for its capabilities... oh man. It feels like a dream. Fast as can be, beautiful screen, has an hdmi out I've used a couple times. I ran 3DMark05 and got a pretty decent score. Vantage would not run for me, so I am using 3DMark06. Then I'll run PCMark05. Gosh... I mean, I've really never had a laptop of my own before. I had a dinky netbook about a year ago, and it was alright, but it just was not what I wanted. I'm on a spending spree now, finding protectors, cases, extra batteries, etc.

Quick question. Could you do this on a macbook that you are planning to dual-boot with windows?

In general, absolutely. And, by that logic, I am trying to have the ability to bring my fully functional desktop with me when I'm on vacation (lugging around an Antec Twelve Hundred does not appeal so much to me...). At the same time, it allows me to do a lot more multitasking than I was previously capable. It makes farming in games so much faster...
Last night I was using 3 monitors at once for the first time for optimal gaming. <3 <3 <3
And yes, it runs SC2 at HIGH settings, though medium is a lot easier for it. Not bad for 1366x768 :)
