Anime Timeskips
The last Anime I watched, and the current one I am watching had/have a timeskip(s).
I particularly dislike this. It really makes you lose a sense of the character, because people change as they grow up. It also makes you lose that sense of attachment because the characters are usually drawn to be older.

It's sort of like a cheap fucking easy mode way of saying fudge those old ideas wee're going to 180 this whole story...

maybe I'm overreacting... either way I dislike it :/

Well then treat it as a different story?

RE: Anime Timeskips
It's fine if they do it well in context of the whole story.

More often than not it's not done well, though.. and it is frustrating.

Timeskips are defined as what? Do flashbacks count?

RE: Anime Timeskips
I think it's when an anime story skips to a certain point to the story without explaining what happened before until later as a plot point.
I'm not to sure of the meaning myself actually.

That's right.

Timeskips often ruin stories.. sadly.

I see.  I don't mind them if they're done well.
But I guess that's true with anything really.

RE: Anime Timeskips
i think timeskips are useful when you want your character to aged a years forward without missing the years that he was done, or it will be getting some OVA episodes in between those years to have more episodes in that anime, lol

Spoiler for don't look, might destruct your mind:

RE: Anime Timeskips
there are some times where a time skip is required. (note: Clannad - After story [OMG MIND FUDGE!]) like krysta said basically you want characters to age so theres a possibility that they can skip something without having to waste like 40 episodes of that series on it. (note: Naruto: shippoden)

RE: Anime Timeskips
I just watch the story as it is. If it's written well enough then it's all fine for me.
