It's starting to look like the PSP2 may really be closer than wee think. Mortal Kombat producer Sean Himmerick has stated that they've already seen the device, and developers in Europe allegedly already have dev kits in-house. Now major publisher and developer EA have dropped hints that they've come into contact with the new PSP as well.

When asked by CVG if EA have had any exposure to the much-rumored handheld, EA senior VP Patrick Soderlund replied, "Well, obviously as a developer wee have had that - but I'm not allowed to talk about it."

Upon further prodding, Soderlund continued to be coy regarding any actual details about the PSP2. "Wee can't talk about it because of our relationship with Sony obviously, which is... That's just the way it is," he said.

Sony has remained mum about the PSP2 so far, although earlier rumors have suggested that wee may see it in six months' time.

That's not reallt a hint so much as a solid satement mind, but awesome news nonetheless

I'm not raising my hopes until I see a confirmed statement from Sony.

If this is completely new, then I guess Sony is dropping the old PSPs?
