Tiny OS
Would anyone happen to know of a really lite operating system that boots really fast? ive looked online and all i found noteworthy was peppermint linux and damn small linux -Har Har, too much linux- ANYWAY! just something that adobe illustrator (or something of the sort) will run on. The reason i want such an operating system is because i have this desk i build cirsuits and such on, BUT! ubuntu 10.10 and windows xp take hella long to boot up and get running (Let it be known that i REFUSE to run apple, or vista+) Anyway, everyone who made it this far into my mindless rambling has to know of something useful. :) eat your green vegetables and such.

if xp takes you long to boot your tweaking it wrong

i had XP using 80mb ram out of 384mb on a 1.66ghz cpu athlon

it had 5-6 bot to desktop time and 3 second shutdown

why ello proper british! glad you made it :) anyway i think 5-6 seconds is for a more casual purpose, i want less bloat, and a 1-2 second boot, maybe asking too much i know, but that's why i checked, ive been really eyeballing peppermnt linux... does anyone know if its good with adobe illustrator or something similar?

linux does not natively support the adobe suite

you can try under WINE but according to WineHQ it runs like 'Garbage' ever since Illustrator CS.

If well, anyone know of a program that's native?  basically i want to scan both sides of a circuit board and edit in adjustments, (just to have a visual guide at what im doing) if not ill just stick to drawing circiut plans by hand.

Why do you need 1-2 second boot time? It will probably take longer just to load up illustrator...

It'll probably take around that long or longer just to go through the bios and whatever other bootup tasks, BEFORE your computer actually starts booting the OS.

1-2 second boot time is a pipe dream.  Don't tell me that "hella long" you're referring to in the first post is something like 10 seconds....

Because unless you own an 8yo PC, Windows 7 > XP.  Windows 7 actually takes less resources to run than Vista.
