Stupid Java assignment for Uni...
Thing takes ages to compile...

Sucks, cause if you make a typo, you've got to wait ages for the thing to compile, just to throw out an error, which you fix, then you have to wait ages again to see if your fix worked.

PHP may be slower, but it's MUCH easier on the dev.

So, whilst the damn thing is compiling, I am posting here, trying to relieve my boredom of waiting.

Seems rather inefficient. Do no IDEs provide a solution to this?

IDEs at best do static checking.
I'm not using one. I find most too much bother >_>
