RE: Scariest Job in the World
I dunno about it being the scariest.  If you're not scared of heights and fairly physically capable, it's probably not too much of an issue.
Apart from the strength required, climbing that isn't that much different than climbing a much smaller pole - you can get killed by both if you fall.  I'd be more afraid of going down than up though.

Hmm, I wonder how the Occupational Health and Safety would respond to this job?

Fuck me sideways, that's ridiculous.
Seriously, what a bullchocolate job; you carry all that spoon up, and then, what if you drop a crucial tool?

"Oh spoon."
"What?"
"I dropped my screwdriver."

Spoon, I- gah.

"Books! I've read several on the subject!"

Video looks way scary, but that's probably a lot due to where the camera is placed (on his helmet?), making it feel like he's swinging all over the place when in fact he's just shaking his head.

Exactly. That was my thought the whole time. How the hell do you get back down?

Also, just think... someone had to make this tower in the first place, so someone was carrying this poo poo up the tower with them while they worked. Some people have a lot of balls... I can't stand being 10 feet off the ground, let alone 1760 feet O.O

Well, obviously. But, to me, it is the thought of being out of control for so long. The anticipation of your own death.

Considering it takes ~1200-1800 feet to reach terminal velocity for a human, which is supposedly about 150 ft/s (different sources are giving different info), that would mean it would take at LEAST 10 seconds of freefalling, with complete loss of control. THAT is what scares me. The actual impact? Won't even feel it.

I want to try skydiving one day.

Ofcourse, in a way that doesn't end me up as a spat on the bottom.

I would also, one day, like to try skydiving. Mostly because my single greatest fear is heights. Exposure seems like a good way to overcome it.
