Following my splurge on speakers, I managed to snag up the PricesEngine special today of 2x WD 2TB Green 64M cache drives for AU$240 (+$10 for shipping/surcharge). Cheapest I can get a 2TB drive here is AU$153 from MSY, which is why I couldn't resist the deal. Have been filling up my 1.5TB drive at home (about 95GB free) so I did kinda need a new drive.

Am planning to buy another one so that I have 3x 2TB in RAID5 for around 3.6TiB of storage - should be enough for all my files, including all the anime I have on DVDs, and anything I'll need in the near future, all with the knowledge of it being RAID protected.
Woot!

By the way, the saving of $50 kinda paid for my speaker I guess.

about a month ago, I bought a 1TB for $83. That would be $332 for 4TB.

But then again, according to me, buying storage gradually as I need it > buying a lot at once (you should able to easily figure out why). So I probably wouldn't have bought into that deal anyway.

i had fail to see the use of raid,.

i got 1 75 gig SSD for windows install my other hard-drives need replacement,.:
1x 600gig WDC
2x 200gig Maxtor
1x 80gig maxtor
1x 150 WDC

nowhere near 2t hehe,. 2t drive nice!!

Nice! Still, I can't see why anyone would need that much storage. As a family wee have less than that. I've got about 400GB local sotrage on my laptop, 500GB on my brother's computer, 250GB on my parent's computer and 600GB on the server. No drive is more than 40% full. The last time I had a clear out on the server was 2 years ago.

I still need to get my 2nd 1tb HDD... I have a 500gb one for backup atm, but would feel better if I just RAIDed the sucker. Need some cash :o
