Dust builds on the heatsink causing the CPU to get hot causing the thermally controlled fan to spin at rediculously high speeds.

Either way it's fixed for free :). Well..at the expense of not having it for a few days :(

Well, I guess it's possible for some douche at the factory to mix up parts for a jet engine and those for a computer, after all, the former often contains the latter.
