the shoutbox has a whisper function which works similar to a im, umm sort of.

oh cool..... never knew that... could be useful from time to time..... if there's a way to notify someone that you've sent them a message like this it would be even better (obviously only if they're online though

there used to be a "Live Chat" link at the top but has since been removed... it should be restored IMO.

im no admin but the live chat button is accessible from the portal page at the top right.
not sure if it works though, it might be set up for the old irc back in the day :P
