RE: DSL vs Broadband
i have a DSL connection and a broadband connection, DSL reaches 500kb/s, Broadband reaches 3mb/s, a hard decision indeed.

(should really be in organised randomness)

RE: DSL vs Broadband
Isn't DSL technically broadband?

Either way my home "DSL" commection is actually faster (~500KB/s on a good day) than school's "Broadband" fibre optic (~1MB/s) line some of the time. All the schools in the county link back to a central point. If one school in the county is having problems then it affects all the schools in the county. Things drop to sub-dialup speed and a good 3000ms Ping most days.

RE: DSL vs Broadband
DSL = digital subscriber line; it's an internet connection which utilises higher frequencies in telephone lines to transmit data.

In Australia, the term "broadband" refers to any internet connection faster than about 200Kbits/sec, so all ADSL connections in Australia are considered "broadband".
It's different depending where you are though: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadband_Internet_access

RE: DSL vs Broadband
on wiki, they seem to suggest dsl= phone line internet and broadband = fibre optics internet, but they understand that the term broadband could be used to describe a DSL connection (as all advertising in the UK for a dsl connection does)

This is even more so,

"101 Mbps downstream and up to 15 Mbps upstream!"

I've had service from them before at 30/5. The service is good and almost never any downtime.

RE: DSL vs Broadband
Don't you mean DSL vs Cable?

In that case, DSL, since over here, cable is expensive as fuck for shitty amounts of download quota.  Actually, internet on a whole here is expensive as fuck and has shitty download quotas (compared to pretty much everywhere else in the world), just cable even more so than DSL.
