PSP running slowly
Hi guys. I was directed here by Grey Ghost, and I was wondering if any of you could help me out with my basic problem.
I just had 5.50 Gen-D2 "installed", and everything was running nicely. However, some time today I noticed that it wasn`t turning on or loading my UMDs as fast as it was yesterday. When trying it out on my smaller memory stick, everything was lightning fast, so I copied all my files, formatted my current memory stick, and put everything back on again.
Nada. Please note that it`s hard to know any less about this stuff than I already do, but I am willing to learn. Starting with this. So, any ideas?
Thanks.

RE: PSP running slowly
So does the smaller memory stick still load faster than your larger one?
Is the larger one just a slower stick?

RE: PSP running slowly
The smaller one loads faster yes, but when I first used the larger one, it was equally quick.
I`m afraid to do anything to try and fix it without consulting you guys first.

RE: PSP running slowly
Do you know for sure that your larger one is a genuine memory stick?
Press Triangle on top of your memory stick in the XMB and press "Information" or something similar, does it say "MagicGate Supported"?

RE: PSP running slowly
Yep. Well, it says "MagicGate Supported" at any rate.
I know one or two people that use the exact same brand of stick...but they don`t have any problems...

RE: PSP running slowly
if it says that, then it seems its genuine, so it may simply be a slower stick than your other, or your noticing a speed difference on GEN compared to M33, that is, if you upgraded from one to another because GEN doesn't have M33s MSSPEED hack.

RE: PSP running slowly
Ah well. It`s not crippling at any rate. The only thing that really bugs me is seeing everything grey-out for a few seconds before actually launching the game, and having to wait an equally long time for the thing to boot ( though I s`pose since I`ve blocked the sony logo on startup, it might be a fair trade.)
It`s not too major, just something I didn`t expect and thought I was overlooking something obvious.
Thanks for your help.

RE: PSP running slowly
Its cool.
At first I thought it may have been PSP burn-out.
When I charged my PSP with a USB-based Cable/Charger, the battery was heating up an awful lot but it seemed afterwards that my PSP would perform a little slower than my sisters, and this was most obvious when wee played games over Ad-Hoc, my sisters PSP would finish loading parts of games a second or two before mine.. and the games didn't like that.

I`ll give it a rest then and see if that makes any difference.

Sorry to say, if you did do the same as me, the damage done was permanent. My poor PSP >_<
