I think what wee need first is a Glossary of the words that have special functions in the XML. I think it is pretty self explanatory as in structure and how the trees refer back to each other. I think its just what words mean and how they function is most important.
I'd be willing to help build a Instruction booklet of some sort. Just give me a holla and tell me what needs to be done and some resources of what you want. Wee can work from there on.

I might put up a bit of a guide on animation.
As for documentation, I think what would be needed would be descriptions of each tag, though most of them don't need much information (ie <Image>, <Sound>, <Model> etc). The main complex part is the Object section. Anim isn't that complex once you get it (hopefully my guide will solve that).
Problem with the Object section is that there are many unknowns right now.
I'll try to think up something later.
Would anyone be willing to try and figure out what some of these unknowns are? As an example, look for a <Text> object - you'll notice that I've replaced some "unknowns" with names, such as "topRed".

When you say "unknowns" you mean the XML for the original RCO files right?
Example would be those "unknownInt", "unknownevent"?
When you do put up a tutorial, would it be ok if I actually compose it into a PDF so the community can download it?
Maybe slowly update it and keep the information rolling into a book or guide of some sort?

Yeap. Would make more sense to have an explanation if there's stuff to explain :P

Of course that's okay!
I'm not too sure about the slowly update bit, but you can do whatever you want it with.

Updated to v1.0.1:
- fix crash with WAV » VAG conversion
- fix sound clipping issues with WAV » VAG conversion (fix appears to work, but I really haven't looked at it much)
- added ability for compile function to read from stdin
- use \ for directory separators on Windows
- slight speedup with gimconv (no longer invokes the cmd shell)
- '--xml-only' switch for dumping removed, use '--resdir -' instead
- fix bugs relating to handling XML files with resource dumping disabled
- minor changes to messages
- GUI will attempt to use relative paths instead of always relying on absolute paths
- fix folder creation bug in GUI
Have also done some structural changes internally - hope I didn't mess anything up >_>
With this, I'll see if I can make a anim guide soon.
