adraineva Wrote:Hello Everyone,

I have installed four to five players on my desktop.Like Jet-Audio,VLC Player,Winamp,Media player.

But My favorite is VLC Player. The reason is It supports all type of file. While others are not.

MPC and VLC support is practically the same.... in any case, with the right codecs, almost every player can play almost every file...

Another question.... why are you wasting all that space?

I know some people who would heavily disagree with you.

Why the hell would you use VLC OR MPC for Music anyway??

RE: Favourite Music Player
lol musicmatch still the best, lol

anyway VLC is good for audio enhancing, sound is louder when playing movies here than in MPC, but MPC codec support is more than VLC, but i don't use them for music playing, lol

If you installed it with CCCP (which you should have ;p) you can increase master volume in the ffdshow Audio Decoder configuration. Goes up another 150% I think. Just don't blow your ears off.

MPC has both boost and gain/normalisation options too :P  Options » Audio Switcher

I wouldn't use either for music however.  Pretty much all popular music has dynamic range compression applied.  Does help for classical if you can't take the dynamic range though.
Gain clips the audio; both of these probably only really work for video / voice tracks.

MPC support depends on what codecs you have installed.  BUT, even if you have FFDShow installed only (every codec pack comes with that), and nothing else, MPC should still support more... so yes, MPC supports more.

Both my headphones and speakers have their own volume adjustment, so I've never run into that problem before.

Senseito7 Wrote:If you installed it with CCCP (which you should have ;p).

Why that particular codec pack?

Xitherun Wrote:meh. Never really liked Foobar.

For Windows, Songbird for the win. I used to use WinAmp, until I discovered Songbird, now I'll never use anything else.

I'm currently using Songbird. It's all good, but has a few problems...
  • Can't minimize to tray, well actually, you can, but only after searching for and downloading a plugin. Something like that should be built in.
  • Uses quite a lot of memory (~100MB), maybe due to the built in Firefox like web browser. Doesn't matter too much for me because I have 4GB of RAM, but for a netbook with 500MB/1GB of RAM, it's going to annoy you.
  • Spoiler for stuff I don't care:
Supposedly from what I've heard, it lacks some obscure features (podcatcher, Audible support, and some other stuff) that Winamp supports, but since I NEVER EVER use any of these things, I care more about my toilet seat being cold.

Oh yeah, LyricMaster (Songbird plugin) is really awesome, best plugin ever.
