well, ive started Toaru Kagaku no Railgun and in havent seen Toaru Majutsu no Index. I think railgun is a spin-off. It made sense to me, so yeah i think you're fine. It doesn't pick up where anything left off as far as i know

Watch Index 1st. It'll be better that way... at least I hope (read: I hope railgun doesn't turn out to be really poo poo).

And I'm waiting on Eclipse. I used Eclipse for Index, and I displike changing groups.

I haven't watched any of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun but I know it's about Mikoto instead of Touma.
There's a good amount of character/plot development for Mikoto in Majustu no Index.
