RE: If you were given the money...
1. Take the Alienware.
2. Refund or sell it, receive money.
3. Use part of that money to custom build my PC. (Will cost a lot less than that Alienware).
4. Profit.

I get my custom built beast machine, AND some extra money.

It's called arbitrage.

tl;dr - Never waste the potential for gain.

Are you implying that i couldnt custom build something more expensive than the most expensive Alienware

I beg to differ, especially considering i assumedly get to choose my own software for this device

Within reasonable bounds.... yes, the Alienware will most likely cost more.

What I consider reasonable: what you would agree to buy if you're forking out the money yourself. Even if you're an enthusiast, you probably can't beat Alienware on cost.

Sure you can say you're going to use a server board, and load it with 4x Xeon quads, and stick like 4 GTX295 GPUs in it, and 32 SSDs... fuck that, too weak... build yourself a supercomputer using a cluster of 2048 Core i7s, with 128TB of RAM... but that kind of stuff is far beyond reasonable, and doesn't count.

Hell, for arguments sake, I can always pay Alienware [insert a large number] times as much, to get them to custom build the exact same thing for me, they won't refuse.

RE: If you were given the money...
alienware is a complete rip off!  If you want a sweet pc that is very close to what you can build it for, I have had 40+ people order form here.

http://www.buyxg.com

Can customize from many motherboard/cpu/memory/harddrive/video card/case options.
