Cool ZOMG It's a Book
It is nearing the end of my time, Gill told Parrish, him following close behind as Gill made his way through the hospital. I trust you are now ready for any and everything, now that I have told you the truth?

I can only hope so, Bradley replied, glancing into each open doorway they happened to pass. Where are wee going?

I have one final stop I must make before returning to my Donatella.

And that would be where?

The infirmary.

They stop  kiddy-corner from the entrance to the infirmary, and Gill changed his shape so a few moments later he had the body and voice of some nurse that he had seen earlier that night. “Follow me, sir,” she said, already acting as if she weren’t Gill Fefeona.

“Of course.”

They entered through a doorway, and inside was a room with another door that led straight into the infirmary, where numerous squalling infants lay, waiting to go home. The only problem was that there was a nurse awaiting them, and it was her job to allow them access or not. Seeing as how Gill had taken the shape of this particular nurse, upon their arrival she glanced at them, took a double take, and stammered, “What is…I…you…are…I am…”

“Hello,” Gill said, still in the nurse’s form.. The real nurse ran from the room, horrified.

“Wee don’t have much time,” Gill said, and he changed back into his normal state. When Parrish made to move forward and enter the infirmary behind Gill, he was stopped by the man’s hand, although not forcefully. “I would appreciate it if you could keep a watch while I’m inside.”

Parrish’s face flashed with anger, but it subsided. “Sure.”

Gill entered, and the door behind him closed silently, sealing him inside.

Walking through the rows of either sleeping or squalling infants, he searched. Finally he stopped in front of two carefully placed carriers, both labeled “Descombs.”

Taking a chair that was left by a nurse in another row, he rolled it over and sat down besides the two babies, who were neither crying nor sleeping, but stared up at him with wide, curious eyes.

“Hello, Alexander,” he said to the boy, and to the girl he said, “Hello, Shirley. Welcome to your new life.” He cleared his throat. “I’m sorry if I was unclear as to what was to happen to you, but I could never have told you the truth, for they are always watching.” He pointed upwards. “You see, the bet between Lucifer and God was never a fair deal. Lucifer had always meddled in every Death Merchant’s business, taking lives as he pleased and altering some people’s destinies. As a matter of fact, my course was destined to take the lives of your former children and now your parents, Brad and Lilibeth Descombs, but I could not do such a thing.

“On the other hand, God never played by the rules either. Well, at the very least she never got in the way of things, but when Lucifer was out of earshot, she told me the one thing that gave me joy in doing my job. As you know by now, every one of the victims I ‘killed’ were soon thereafter reborn, as you have just been.”

“What?” Lucifer shouted, suddenly appearing in the room with him. “That can’t be so! She told me everything!” His eyes were ablaze with fiery rage. “This is improbable.”

“Seems like you’ve been given a taste of your own medicine,” Gill said mockingly, and Lucifer balled his hands into fists, his pulse racing. “You don’t know the half of it, do you?”

“The half of what?” Lucifer retorts.

“God’s true plan,” Gill said, crossing his arms.

“This is truly unacceptable!” Lucifer shouted, pounding his fist on a table, and it cracked.

“Please,” a woman’s voice said, and Donatella appeared out of thin air, and she walked over to stand by Gill’s side, “keep your anger to yourself.” She put one arm lovingly around Gill, and Lucifer’s eyes widened in horror.

“What is this?”

“This,” Gill said, shaking Elle lovingly inside his grasp, “is God.”

“You can’t be serious,” Lucifer said, looking disgusted. “Donatella, what is the meaning of this? Why have you come to Earth, let alone show your true form to this mortal? You’ve never even shown me your true form!” He paused. “You love me, not this…this…human!”

“Everyone’s human,” Gill said with a smile. “At least a part of us are; including you.”

“Nonsense!” Lucifer shouted, and the ground around him caught fire, causing the surrounding infants to burst out crying.

“Enough,” Donatella said calmly, and when she pointed at the flames they instantly disappeared. “This has gone on long enough, it’s time wee’ve ended this.”

The door to the room burst open and in came Parrish. “What’s happening?” He was addressing Gill, seeing as he had no idea who the others in the room were.

“Detective, meet my wife, Donatella,” Gill said, and Donatella held out her hand for him to take it. When he moved forward to shake her hand, Lucifer held his arm out, blocking Parrish’s way.

“I think not,” he said angrily. “He belongs to me now.”

“No one ever belonged to you,” Donatella said, making Lucifer’s eyes widen once more. He waved his hand and suddenly they were standing in what would one day be the ruins of the hospital, the red horizon shining down upon them, the smoky air choking their lungs, the lava bursting from the Earth’s crust. It seemed to be all intact, except for the fact that no one was around.

“Where are they all?” Lucifer shouted, and Donatella waved her own hand, causing them all to return to their previous state. “What did you do with them?

“They’re all mine now, as they all do not deserve what you’re giving them.”

“Woman,” Lucifer said through gritted teeth, “I should have killed you when I had the chance.”

“But aren’t you glad you didn’t?” Donatella asked with a smile, her arm still around Gill. He too had a sort of grin on his face. “Otherwise you or I, or anyone for that matter would ever exist.”

“And to think I always wondered why you never showed me your true form,” Lucifer muttered. “I would have caught on when Ian resigned.”

“Consider this my resignation,” Gill said, and he grabbed Parrish by the shoulder, pulling him past Lucifer. I’ve just given you all of my powers, Parrish, Gill told him.

“You can have him, I don’t want him,” Lucifer scoffed. “I only wish to know why you’ve hurt me so, Donatella.”

She looked shocked, maybe even ashamed. “I really did love you, Max. But I cannot depend on your love in return. You’re too…unpredictable.”

“Unpredictable?” Lucifer exclaimed with a nervous laugh, despite himself. “I’m not the one who’s been deceiving their lover behind their back.”

“I’ve never deceived you,” Donatella said, wondering what he meant.

“You told me on the day that wee met that you would always love me,” Lucifer shouted, and Gill thought Lucifer was on the verge of tears.

“And I always will,” Donatella said, and she glanced at Gill before she continued, “but I love him more, almost as much as our friends Bradley and Lilibeth love each other. What they have I’ve always yearned for, and the closest I’ll ever be to that is by loving Nate. And I do.” She turned, and Gill kissed her, she kissing him back so passionately it made Lucifer cringe.

“What is this?” he asked, sounding sad for the first time. “You prefer him over me?”

“I have since the beginning of time,” God said, pulling Nate into her lovingly. “I created you only after a few days, you see. It took me much longer to create the perfect lover.” Nate smiled at her knowingly. “On the day of my self-creation I soon felt the need for something…for someone to join me in this reality that wee call life. So, without wasting any time, I created you, Max.” She was pointing at Lucifer. “More than three million years later, I had perfected a creation so powerful, I was anxious to try it out before it was ready. I sought to bind it with your body and soul, but it backfired; you were two opposites, two completely different beings that could never be…that was when you died, and became what you are now…you became Lucifer.”

A sudden sense of realization seemed to pass through Lucifer, and after a moment he stood up a little straighter, looking awkward and lost. Then his rage began to seep through again. “Is there anything else you haven’t told me?” he growled.

“You see, that’s your problem,” Donatella said, growing impatient. “You’re too violent.”

“You’re one to complain!” Lucifer shouted, advancing on her and Nate. “You made me! You made all of us!”

“I had to put my bad side into someone!” Donatella shouted, now on the verge of tears herself. “I know, I’m sorry, it was selfish of me but I could have never been anything if I hadn’t destroyed my one flaw, which, unfortunately, was my evil personality.”

“I wondered why I had always had these little fits of mine,” Lucifer muttered, saddened, finally realizing the inconvenient truth. “It was never me…it was you…well, at least a part of you, the other half that you took out of yourself and put inside of me…”

“There is no good and evil,” Donatella told him, leaving Nate’s side, and she strolled over and took Lucifer’s hand in her own. “There is no fate. The choices you make decide the outcome of your life, that is, unless, someone meddles in their affairs.” She was clearly referring to the fact that Lucifer had killed Jim Descombs, and countless others before any Death Merchant could collect their souls, making it that much harder for that particular Death Merchant to succeed.

Donatella lifted Lucifer’s hands to her lips and kissed them, tears streaking her face. “I only have one regret in my entire existence, and it was breaking your heart. And for that, I am truly sorry.” Lucifer took a few steps back, sensing what was coming next. “Can you ever forgive me?”

Lucifer seemed taken aback, and he looked from Donatella to Nate, then back to the only person he ever loved. His face crumpled and he frowned, making it the saddest state Gill had ever seen him. “Yes,” he said, taking slow, deep breaths. “Yes, I forgive you.”

Donatella removed her hands from Lucifer’s very slowly, and eventually she returned to Nate’s side, wrapping her arms around him. “Very well.”

“So, that’s it then?” Lucifer asked, knowing there was no other way out. He gave Nate a look of utter loathing.

“Yes, I’m afraid so,” Donatella said, and she inclined her head towards Lucifer, who slowly began to fade. “You’re going home now.”

“Will I still be evil?” Lucifer asked, staring at his own hands as he disappeared into the air itself. “Will I still yearn for death and the destruction where I’m going?”

“Max,” God said, looking him straight in the eyes, and Nate knew she was spilling her heart for him; even though he was the only mistake she had ever made, God still loved him with the entirety of her heart. “You may look in the mirror and see horrible things, but all I see is someone asking to be loved.” She drew her courage in with her breath. “I love you.”

Lucifer looked relieved, and just before he fully vanished, said, “Thank you.”

As soon as Lucifer was out of the picture, Detective Parrish cleared his voice, drawing Donatella and Nate’s attention. “Yes?” Nate asked.

“How many…how many, uhm, souls…would you…would you like me to collect?”

“None,” Donatella said flatly, and she inclined her head at him. He raised his hands, feeling normal once again. “I’ve taken away your powers. You are free to go.” Parrish made to leave, looking lost and confused, but Donatella called out to him. “And try not let your anger get the best of you,” she warned him, and he heeded her words. “As you just saw, it could be your undoing.”

“Thank you,” Parrish said awkwardly, and he took his leave.

“What a day,” Nate said when he and Donatella were alone but for the newborns, who were all quiet now.

“The day is just begun,” Donatella said, taking Nate’s hand in her own, and she led him over to a lonely window in the room. Outside the darkness was slowly clearing, the rising sun giving warmth to the Earth and its inhabitants. “My most prized creation,” she said, giving Nate’s hand a squeeze.

He gave her a disbelieving look.

“Next to you, of course,” she finished, and hand in hand they faded away as quickly as the surrounding darkness, returning to the one place where they could be together forever.

Great, now you know my true meaning of being here.
If

This is the last chapter. Should I post the whole book?

Knowing you people, you'd 'borrow' it and publish it yourself
