EPGaming VLAN [NET1: DEAD | NET2: UNKNOWN]
If you're looking for the VLAN/Gaming Network over Virtual LAN Details... you're in the right place.

----------------------------------
SET UP
----------------------------------
Getting yourself connected to the VLAN is simple, painless process. Follow these instructions to get online.

1. Download Hamachi v1.x from here >> http://hamachi.en.softonic.com/
2. Install Hamachi. [Install the Free non-commercial version]
3. Once you've launched Hamachi, you'll have a simple (dull) looking box and you should have an IP of 0.0.0.0.

Now then, press the POWER button (bottom left) to get your IP, at this point you must have an identifiable computer name. I - for example use my username Senseito7.

4. Once its connected (give it a moment), you should have your Hamachi IP. Now, click the icon to the left of the gear (looks like a triangle) and click on "Join an existing network" and use the following details:

Name: EPGaming
Pass: zingaburgas

If you connect and nobodies home......... well that means I'm off as well and probably sleeping.. don't worry about it

5. Now you should be connected to the network and hopefully by the time you've got to this point, other EPGamers will be there too.

--------------------------------
USING
--------------------------------
Using the VLAN method allows you to play LAN games over the internet.

To do this is exactly how you would on a LAN.

If you're making the game server, take a note of your Hamachi IP - this is the IP others will need to connect to you with.

If you're joining - make sure you have the server IP.

Alternatively, some games can "see" whether games are actively being played on the network, and it should be as simple as a double-click.

RE: EPGaming VLAN
-----------------------
KNOWN PROBLEMS
-----------------------
Hamachi uses a rather simplistic method of networking computers together, but the only major problem users can have is when a user can't be "seen" or "looked at".

This is often the case when either others can't connect to your game, or you can't connect to others games.

If others have problems pinging that player (right-click player in question on the same network, click "Ping"), then there is a connectivity issue.

This usually means that your Firewall is preventing it from working properly. Try disabling the Firewall temporarily to see if that resolves the issue. If it does, try to configure your firewall to work with the Hamachi Network Adaptor.

COUNTER STRIKE
---------------------

Game Host

   1. Run
   2. Start game
   3. In console type : sv_lan 0

Game Members

   1. Run game
   2. Start console
   3. In console type server IP : connect *.*.*.*

If you experience connectivity issues, disable your firewalls both sides and itll magically start working

RE: EPGaming VLAN
whenever I click the power button, it stays on 'Connecting' and won't give me an IP.

RE: EPGaming VLAN
this is realllly difficult to configure...
me, zinga, and xitherun can get the hamachi running, but the games won't load...
tried forcing hamachi to load first, wee all set up forwarded ports, separate protocols for the games, nothing...

over VLAN? Im guessing your just setting up a standard server... there could be a problem your end with an unopened port.

By the way - Im able to Ping Roberth - 5.47.162.25 - just fine, meaning I can connect to him just fine should he set up a server for a game.

Just a matter of configuration, folks.

@ Trademark, use the ping test when you are online, see who is connected properly to know who should be setting up the games. Better up speeds are preferred as well.

RE: EPGaming VLAN
Ping works, but can send/receive ICMP ≠ UDP/TCP will work.
It just means there's a valid path and server is running, but doesn't say anything about TCP/UDP connectivity or whether games work... >_>

I seem to be able to get AoE2 to recognise Hamachi if I disable every other network though.
