No, most anime are fine, at most needing a slightly better ending. I mean the bad anime are usually bad because of the story, so you can't really do anything about it. Changing the story would be changing everything.

If you're into vampires :P

Firstly, does depend on how important you consider the story. But you can change things a fair bit with only minor story modifications. For example, the pacing, drama, emphasis etc can be tweaked to give a nicer effect on some shows I've seen.

Story basically 90% determines whether the show is good or not. You don't see people going around saying "This is an excellent show because it has the best soundtrack ever, even though the plot sucks donkey".

It (Tsukihime) just had a great story over all, nothing to do with the vampires. Kara no Kyoukai is a 7 part movie series, of which the story is partially linked to Tsukihime (same world, lots of parallels). It has no vampires, only magicians. Now one of them has the story, and the other has production quality far superior to 99% of other anime. Put it together, and you eliminate all the bad points of each.

No, but there are plenty of other things to like a show over.
Example I can think of right now, Excel Saga.

Watched it. It's alright I guess. Good for a lighthearted refreshment, but not something to hit rating charts with. 7/10.

Excel Saga really not a good example with me, as you probably know. I dropped that show on like episode 3, and I hardly ever drop shows. So that puts it at like among the bottom 5 shows out of everything I've watched?
I guess GTO is a good example of what you're trying to express.
have you watched Marcross Frontier?
the plot was poo poo, but the character and the soundtrack make it success.
yes, i said success, not good.
i enjoyed it though.
yeahhhhh. i fell in love with it (or should i say, Mio) the instant i found out she was also a left handed bassist. the quality of the animation and art itself is good, and improves i think throughout the series. It is a very easy to watch, likeable series, as long as you're not the type (like most Sankaku Complex trolls are) who condemn a show due to it having cute, ditsy girls in it. When i get the money, im getting a Mio 1/8 figure :P
i just wish a 2nd series was plausible. hell even if it isn't, i want one. ive even seen the shorts about the 'Curiosity of Yui' or whatever it was.
Spoiler for More sigs:
