Lightscribe
bought me a nw ASUS sata dvd drive
and it has lightscribe
also it has a 20x read and 20x right speed double you tee eff
as disc still only go up to 16x
futureproof for the win

tested lightscribe by backing up MKV's of Haruhi season 1 dvd rip

5 point if you find out where i screwed up xD
also best idea is to make the source image darker or inverted to improve process results

Nah, it won't exceed 16x.  Anything higher is "overburning" and I generally wouldn't do it... (I tried it once but it actually went a lot slower - could've just been me though)
I mainly like the quietness of the drive.

You image appears to be sharper than the ones I can get.  What brand disc you using / burning application?

RE: Lightscribe
Hmm, your discs look a bit whiter than my Verbatims.  Official writer?  I thought that only did text - maybe they improved it...
I don't think 20x discs will come out - think 16x is the limit...

EDIT: http://www.lightscribe.com/discussionBoa...sts&t=2566
Appears that you need to burn Verbatim twice to get better results.

Erk, can't find a changelog for the system software - eh, I'll just download the update and install it >_>

Mine usually take 20 minutes on the high contrast setting...

squee666 Wrote:just looked up vertabim they do lots of colours and darker ones
Probably more expensive I'd guess...
These are the HP CDs: http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/images/...s/7186.jpg
Don't look that good...

Generic brand?  I generally go for the better branded ones for better burn quality.  Taiyo Yuden & Verbatim are generally suggested as the best.  Have gotten good results with LG also - would use them as a cheaper source (can get a 50 pack for $13).
