PS3 Graphical Glitches??
okay, I just picked up RE5 yesterday and every time I play it there is weird graphical glitches (weird jagged lines coming out of characters etc). it's really spoiling the game for me. have experienced a similar problem a couple of times before in Oblivion and Far Cry 2 but with those games it wasn't always there like it is with RE5. I've tried reinstalling the game data and even reformatted the HDD, but the problem is still there. other games like Killzone 2 etc work just fine so I dunno what's causing this :(

someone else posted a video on youtube that shows pretty much the exact problem I'm getting..

RE: PS3 Graphical Glitches??
well, my ps3 is the original 60GB version that I've had since launch...I really hope it's nothing serious cause the warranty ran out a while back.
I've read about similar problems on various forums and some people seem to think it could be due to overheating or a failing GPU...I really hope it's not hardware related.

i had a graphics card die just after displaying symptoms like that and im sorry to say that it was terminal. the card had been overheating but by the time i fixed the cooling the gpu/memory was damaged and died days later. its possible that if it has just started doing it then you could get someone to check the cooling out for you but thatll cost and there wouldnt be any guarantees. sorry to bear bad news.

RE: PS3 Graphical Glitches??
yeah, I had kinda come to the conclusion that it was something like that..really sucks ;( guess, I'll end up having to send it in to sony. don't know why it would be overheating though. it's in an open space.......

RE: PS3 Graphical Glitches??
assuming it is heat related, and it does sound llike that, then the thermal compound or thermal pads that they use can break down with age, and add to that the fact these machines are mass produced and the occasional one will slip through with less then adequate compound then it doesn't really matter how well ventilated the console is unfortunatly. the number of pc's ive came across with overheating problems which were solved simply by replacing the thermal compound is just unbelievable. sending it to sony will do the job but you will pay a hefty amount for the priviledge, whereas if you can find a local computer shop they may be able/willing to do it for far less assuming damage has not been done already. i really can't reccomend either way as sony will definetly fix it for a price but a local shop may be able to fix it for less but also might not. the choice is of course yours so good luck with it.
