RE: FFIX
Sparker Wrote:Assassinator Wrote:Goshi Wrote:I'd say give it a try. Most people who say FFIX is poo poo are often FFVII fanboys who have grown accustomed to the whole neo medieval poo poo and the whole "deep" storyline. IX is similar to older games in which its colorful, the storyline isn't always so serious, each character is stuck only with their specific abilities and you have 4 party members in battle instead of 3.
You can only really enjoy the game if you've played the NES FFs though particularly FF1. Since many of the story elements and ideas are based of those 3. You have the four chaoses making a repeat appearance, Garland shows up, one puzzle involves the retelling of Josef's story in FF2, Hilda makes an appearance, one of the airships is called Invincible... many references @_@
Maybe I'll give it a try if I have the time.
As for the NES FFs, 3 is the only one I went through. Started playing FF1 some time (quite a long time) ago, but never really played that through.
If you don't have the time to do the grind in FF1 just play the GBA version, easy difficulty in the PSX version or the PSP version.
Easy mode is for babies =(

yes correct, ive remember ive played the FF4 translated hard mode over the FF2 US snes (the FF4 US port), and its more fun playing the hard mode, lol
and yes most FFIX haters are FF7 fanboys, and i don't the neomedieval type, maybe ill make the excuse for FF6, but FF7 is a poo poo also due to blocky polygons, lol
FF8 is more on futuristic and more like Phantasy Star FF version, lol, and should never be aligned with FF series
and yes FF9 is the most underrated but more enjoyable FF in the series, like old FF ones, lol, and yeah Hilda is one big mouth queen there over Cid, lol

ah ive make only comparison between easy type and hard type for FF games, it exist in early FF days, lol
yes the very first FF1 in nes is hard, maybe because there is no automatic pointing to another monster when you beaten one monster, lol, maybe ive used to since im playing Dragon warrior 1 also in nes, same gameplay but different views

Lawl, ineffective. FFII doesn't fix that aswell.
Though the normal difficulty of the PSX version doesn't have it

If you played Golden Sun you would probably be used to it. Also its not a big deal since most of the time you'll be blasting the enemy parties with FIR2 or FIR3. Of course if you're not using either a Black Mage or a Red Mage then... yeah... you're missing out on a lot without them though!
EDIT: Damn now I really feel like playing Golden Sun again =/
Lost Age of course! The first one was pretty bad!

Unless the enemies are resistant to fire you'll use LIT2 or LIT3 or if you're out of spell charges you can use ICE2 or ICE3.
Not many enemies weak to to ice.

RE: FFIX
Fire spells usually work just fine on the fire resistant bastards monsters. Most which are fire resistant only come in groups of two or one anyway.

RE: FFIX
Unless it's the Sunken Shrine where all the enemies are resistant to fire so you should be using lightning magic anyway.
