My internetz are so SLOOOOWWW...
It's driving me insane. I just timed how long a complete refresh of the portal page takes (from hitting refresh to IE saying 'Done'.) I'm on my dad's computer (with IE7) and I can't find my pendrive so no portable Firefox...

16 seconds.

Pre 5PM speeds are almost acceptable but after 5PM things are  more like dialup. The BitTorrent protocol is completely blocked (Yes, I've tried setting encryption to On) meaning no Torrents for me any time of the day. I'm just glad I've finally managed to persuade my dad to change to either Plusnet Unlimited or O2 Premium.

Both packages claim about 20mb/s but the most my line will take is about 4mb/s. Shame that ADSL2 isn't being rolled out here until next year. The O2 package is cheaper but the Plusnet package offers a static IP at no extra cost meaning I can do server-like stuff... AND bothe the packages support ADSL2 when it is introduced here...

Surely a dynamic IP is harder to track *coughcough*

I generally wouldn't bother with a server on a home connection.  Upload is the most important - ADSL is designed for downloading, not uploading.
If you're not planning to do any serious server stuff (ie perhaps host a thing for friends), then a static IP is really unnecessary...
