i have VBA 1.7.1 linker for my PC. i had a PSP like computer at one point.

Generally, you save the game on your old emulator as a Saveram/battery file, then copy it to the new emulator and load game.  Transferring savestates between emulators usually does not work.

Sharing savefiles between gpSP and VBA works
If you take your gpSP save and put it on VBA to cheat or something then save, and put it back on gpSP it works.
