I get the impression more people use WinRAR. That and I don't use 7zip. I used to for those 7z files but now WinRAR can extract those I believe.

its all about marketing. WinRAR has popularity. 7zip is for people who like things running efficiently on minimum resources (and free)

Wee're talking about compression here. (Zinga saying files are too big).

7z > Winrar in compression.

And in popularity, 7z is catching up as well. (And it's freeware. Screw payware (winrar).)

I never payed for winrar anyway...
"Your 40 day evaluation period is over"
I just generally just click the "X" and continue

and winrar totally pwns

Goshi Wrote:You could compress it with WinRAR and split the files. A Game Maker game worth a lot MB is generally frowned upon however and RPGs do involve a lot of data. I would think C++ would be the best option but at the moment I know very little of the language.
Compression does reduce the size, however, it doesn't remove the fact that .gmd's lack modulation.  Compress 100 images as much as you want, but it's not going to (very unlikely at least) get smaller than one image file.  Splitting unfortunately doesn't help due to how binary files are rewritten by Game Maker.

Good to hear at least someone is willing to learn programming, however, it does require quite a bit of knowledge (C, C++, DirectX).
Flash I guess is still an open possibility...

RE: RPG Game Project
Wee can simply divide up the jobs based on what each person can do.

For example, the programmers write the code.
The artists draw the characters, backgrounds, whatever.
The story writers write the story.

So not everyone needs programming ability.

But then programming will be the "heavy" job. And I wonder how many programmers there are here.

I know visual basic, actionscript 2.0, javascript, and GML but I don't think you could call that a programmer...
