So I finally decided which dSLR camera I'm gonna get. I decided on the 12.2 Mp Canon Digital Rebel XSi, same model as Diego. It's one of the newest Canon models, and so if I get this one, I'm essentially future-proofing myself for the next couple of years, before I have to upgrade or anything.

the current street price for the kit with a zoom lens is $699, but I'm looking online, and have found some as low as $650

Each jpg is around 4.5mb
Each RAW file is around 17mb.

It's a nice camera, but you have to remember too, The glass(lens) is what you really should be investing in. You can upgrade camera later but without good glass your photos won't look as good. Good your deciding Canon, think of the future (L glass) makes me drool.

Also your lucky prices went down by like $100 I got mine with the kit lens for $800. Since you actually have means of making money (job) I am SURE you will be getting pretty good glass in no time, not like me. I am stuck with no money :(

that's a nice camera! Im still carrying a little 5mp sony t1 that's 5 years old..i realy want a full size professional camera like that, but the convenience of my little guy is just too much...but im still jealous! Maybe next year ill get the 20mp version after wee furnish our empty house with furniture LOL

The 22mp 1ds mk3? That's a hell of a lot of money just for a body.

Why not just get the Hassleblad? It's 39MP! and ONLY at a humble $34k!

Lol. You know, the price:megapixel ratio is going down, which is pretty kewl. In like 100 years, wee'll all be able to get those cameras in our phones lol
