Alternative Aluminum Case for 360 Announced
Lian-Li, the well-known Taiwanese manufacturer of high-quality PC cases has announced a case designed for the Xbox 360. Users can choose to get rid of their plasic microsoft case and put the components into the aluminum alternative to get rid of any heat problems and seriously reduce noise.

The case, called the PC-XB01, should be released end of this month with a price around US$150. Features include a stylish 'black hairline brushed anodized aluminum' look, holes for optional water cooling, a silent 120mm fan, a special bay for the optical drive with 'sound dampening foam' to reduce noise, and also a dust cover that hides the optical drive whenever it's closed.

The case can be used upright or lying down like the original 360. Lian-Li has already put step-by-step instructions on their website, though you will very much void your warranty if you follow them. The case is designed to work with all existing 360 models.

For those of us who have an older version modded xbox 360 with no warranty anyway, and would like a professional look even better than the black Elite case, this product is probably worth getting. A window is unfortunately not included, but you can always make a custom window, throw in some water cooling and you've got one of the most 1337 Xbox 360's around!

It would be nice to get the cases measurements.

OMG!!?
You killed it.
The whole design of the xbox360 case was about functionality and visual aesthetics.
It was suppose to symbolize the moments before impact the inhale before the explosion, the calm before the storm.

That just resembled a bomb.
I don't care the benefits I am not putting my 360 in that thing.
I stick with the noise and the heat for all that.

For more pics and info there's a link to the site in the post.

There was some discussion on another site about whether or not this is a good design. Some points were:

- It's not usable as a HTPC case because it's too fat, not wide enough to fit in and the rounded edges in general don't fit in with AV equipment
- There's way too much space and ugliness left around the ports, even if they are covered by the metal door.
- It doesn't really look like a very impressive case, stuff like buttons is all over the place
- It doesn't have a window
- You can't put the PSU inside

IMO the design could be way better.
