Anime TV to DVD Popularity Death
I've noticed that DVD Releases of previously TV Released Fansub Anime is next to nothing!

<20 Seeders for the most POPULAR ones!

Its worth keeping in mind that DVD Quality is MUCH better than the TV Quality as well, I find this very appealing...

Why is it that nobody gets the re-releases though?

Don't want to download it again?

Don't want to see it again?

Just find it highly unusual..

well i agree with on most of it except downloading tv rip fansubbs is like the only way to get anime in HD quality.. i havent see any 1080 yet but lots of 720 and i always get those over SD.. HD ones imo are better than dvd quality even if it is tv ripped.. they look amazing if the encoder does their job right

RE: Anime TV to DVD Popularity Death
the reason why people don't seed much for torrents is because they always make direct links and download from there

E.G. MegaUpload a series

but in anycase i still use torrents because

1. I got no uploading site account
2. Screw waiting to download every episode
3. Torrents make it easier for me to just "let the download go"
4. I can pause and resume downloads, and schedule downloading at night. Whilst with any upload site i can't do either of these things (and if your internet cuts for 1 second, you're screwed! Sadist )

but yeah, START SEEDING!!!! Try

MY SIG IS FUCKING DEAD

this statement isn't correct. I'm discussing the difference between TV and DVD Torrents. TV Torrents are seeded very well, you would think DVD Torrents would be just as popular if not more popular but it just isn't the case - next to nobody checks them out.

I usually look for the HD release or re-releases
but torrents are of last resort
I prefer a direct link or Megaupload (no rapidsh*t)
anyway they are not that hard to find

reason why i don't download or even look for those is, if its dvd i'd rather buy it, in fact just now i come home from spending nearly 400$ on anime and the mgs4 bluetooth headset

RE: Anime TV to DVD Popularity Death
I see the appeal of dvd quality and sure I might watch it if I ever go back to a series, but I usually don't sit and rewatch anime for the same reason I don't sit here and relearn everything I know already. Been there, done it, moving on the the next thing.

The one thing I will specifically look for a dvd rip of is usually shows with censors on them. I can't stand it. I'd much rather see the original story or just the uncensored images.

RE: Anime TV to DVD Popularity Death
Firstly, most people already seen the fansub release, and can't be bothered re-downloading or watching it again. Like I never really watch the same series twice, so unless if my fansubs really sucked in quality, or it's a really graphically nice anime that would greatly benefit from a better version, I probably wouldn't be bothered downloading another version. But I end up downloading more dual audio (and DVD fansubs) than TV fansubs anyway, since I watch anime more on recommendation than following new releases.

Secondly, because popularity is a chain effect kind of thing. Assume an average person goes to find some anime. He see a torrent with 100/300 seeds/peers, and another with 10/30. He is most likely going to go for the one with 100/300. Thus the popular ones will only get more popular, and it's hard for the unpopular ones to grow. The TV rip subs gets released first, guess which starts off in a better position.

If I haven't seen it already, and there are DVD releases or dual audio releases, I usually opt to go for the dual audio or DVD. Sometimes I download like 1 episode of each, and compare the encoding quality, and make decision based on that. But if there's dual audio, generally dual audio > everything else.
