RE: Your computer and desk rig.
The 478 pin socket is really old, and u can't really get a new motherboard for it these days. I suggest that if ur going to upgrade anyways, u might as well get something that u won't need to upgrade again in ages, something that supports all the newest features, like DDR2 ram, S-ATA2, PCI-E...

And processors these days are cheap, (u can get a processor of 3ghz equivalent power for under $50 australian) so i just suggest upgrading the processor instead of keeping the 1.7ghz one and trying to find a motherboard which has that socket.

getting the top of the range graphics card is usually a waste, as prices drop fast, and the performance/price ratio is very good. Sure, if u spend $800 on a graphics card, u'll have the best, but one year later, ur thing is not the best anymore, and is only worth $500... so yeah, i say get a mid range gpu.

also, the price difference between a good PCI-e graphics card and a good AGP graphics card as u mentioned, can be quite large. That price difference can half cover the amount it takes to get a PCI-e motherboard. So i don't really think it's worth it to get AGP. + If u get AGP, u'll have trouble again the next time u want to upgrade.

Anyways, that's just my opinion. u don't have to follow any of that.

yeah u have some good points but note that i meant to get a good PCI-e graphics card and a PCI-e motherboard so he wouldnt have to upgrade everything at once, then if u have money again you can consider another new motherboard/cpu/ram but you won't need another graphics (cause u just got a good pcie one)

at least that's what im gna do

and i think 1.7ghz is certainly worth upgrading but u got to have money :P

yeah like a 8600 maybe...

if u have the money to upgrade to 8600, then why not get a better motherboard with the latest socket, and a new cpu using that latest socket, cause that'll cost less than a 8600 added up.

If u really want to split a video by chapters, u can always rip the video by chapters, (instead of ripping it as a whole, and then splitting it). That'll probably be the easiest way.

or u can just get the chapter file (or anything that tells u when the chapters are), and split based on the times in there.

RE: Your computer and desk rig.
I hate all consoles.

PC for the win

more functions
more flexability
more games
easier to pirate game for (really important!)
can emulate consoles
PC games are cheaper (if u buy)
Cheaper way to game altogether (considering that u have a computer anyways, why not use it to game instead of paying $$$ for a console)
upgradable (ur console is useless when the next gen comes. ur pc parts are still good)
U can screw around with ur games (edit saves, use mods...)

hell, saying that in a PSP based forum, I'm going to get my but kicked...
