Microsoft's Xbox 360 RRoD 'stress test' disc leaked
[Image: LEAK.jpg]

Maxconsole Wrote:Microsoft_Xbox_360_Ping_17_Test_Disc. INTERESTING (READ INSIDE!!)
I just found this. No direct link provided to torrent or Usenet group due to copyright of M$ and I'm not advertising pirated material. This is just information on what has been found and released to the internet.

If mods want to remove this then please do so at your own will.

Anyway, here is it:-

ReleaseDate..... 2008-04-17 Format..... ISO
ùFilename........ ind-ping.rxx Region..... REGION FREE
ùSupplemental.... ind-ping-1st_wave.rar Source..... DVD9
ùRarCount........ 73x100MB

"Ping 17 Test Media" is a confidential internal Microsoft utility
disc which was left inside an Xbox 360 when it was sent back to a
customer after RRoD repair.

Please note that this disc will not run on iXtreme firmware as-is.
It's an exception to the SS authoring date rule and has 2nd wave
PFI/Video when iXtreme expects it to have the 1st wave versions.
This is the same reason why backups of DDR Universe (the only
other known exception to the rule) will not run on iXtreme.

If you want this disc to run on iXtreme you will need to patch the
iso with PFI_739CEAB3.bin and Video_66D0CB54.iso from the included
ind-ping-1st_wave.rar, but note that this is not the proper
PFI/Video for this disc and you should use it at your own risk.

Also, be aware that this disc will attempt an internet connection
to LIVE/MS, and will halt if it can't connect. Use at own risk!

I will find this soon!  A picture of this disc can be found HERE

Oh gosh. This is just like the story of that guy who had Sony's official unbricker stored on his PSP when it was sent back to him.

http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=139665

Quote:Hi Guys .. Just found some interesting info about s0ny's secret "unbrick"

More info about the unbricker:

There was a PSP that Sony unbricked that was sent back to the owner with a memory stick inside.
The memory stick contained these items:

- Binary encrypted full NAND image.
- Required modules for system control for use by IPL of debug hardware.
- Logging module for debug log review (log is saved after full write).
- A file used for testing that the system plays well (usually a demo of a PSP game).

This memory stick supposedly unbricks any PSP.
But, you need a special battery in the PSP to load the files.

This battery is know as the "Sony JigKick".
It sends data through through the 3rd. battery pin that enables writing to the IPL from the memory stick.
Here are the battery specs:

- 1.1v-3.5v debug unit for connecting through the serial port in 3rd. battery pin.
- Transmission of data is UNENCRYPTED but uses a XOR algorithm for transmission (easily parsed and analyzed).
- Contains any number of IPLs (different ones for each motherboard revision (TA-XXX))
- IPL is loaded into the Kernel Memory. ME area seems most likely (IPL of the PSP is the same but missing 2 essential modules that the debug unit has).
- Contains ipl_mg_modules.bin and ipl_mg_nanddriver.bin
- IPL is encrypted in 3 stages. Easily decrypted to show stages, but not for decrypt each individual stage.
- Contains a 40x120 column TFT screen for display.
- Has a SERIAL port for PC connectivity.
- Seems to have a 32MB ROM IMAGE on Flash.
- 8MB of RAM.
- Nickel-Cadmium Battery Cell (possibly 76 hour battery life).
- AC/DC adapter port 15V.
- Contains 4 buttons (on/off, reset, connect/disconnect, menu).
- Arrow keys UP and DOWN for menu.

RE: Microsoft's Xbox 360 RRoD 'stress test' disc leaked
As always.. MaxSlut stealing news off other webpages.

This is not a burn-in test it's a simple system stress test.
Basicly this disc will stress the xbox AFTER they fix the RRoD.
This insures that it doesn't fail after a few hours gaming when the user gets it back.

The copy of this disc is basicly useless. It needs a special patch/file replacements
to get it to work on iXtreme firmwares. The original disc won't work on patched drives either
so this is needed. (also known for 1 other game with the same prob)

Quote:its runs 1 level of PGR race all NSX cars going very fast, infact it makes the system lag seems to push it beyond its capabilites.

most of the time the test hangs the machine ive tried it on 3 seperate systems
the only one it did 4 laps on was a system connected to a lan cable must be doing some sort of network test.

Wee also know now that this network test phones home to Microsoft. Sending IP, logs, data dumps ect used for quality control and so on.

Quote:In any case, for some real information that isn't just surmised from the disc's title, this particular Ping disc contains a special build of PGR,
similar to that which appears on the XStress retail media disc. This one, however, uploads minidumps to an internal Microsoft ticket tracking system,
which not only records service and diagnostic information, but also obviously timestamp and IP address. As such, anyone that may come across such a disc would be well advised to disable internet connectivity to the 360 prior to launching the disc.

I would suggest not playing with this. It can fry your xbox and/or get your mac address/account eXx1l3d from ms live.
Definitly a USE-AT-OWN-RISK! disc ;)
