Team Fortress DLC Price Is Up To Microsoft And Sony
[Image: Team%20Fortress%2022.jpg]

Quote:Recently, Valve went on record saying that they'd like their upcoming Team Fortress 2 map pack to be free on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but admitted that such a situation might not be possible. Many wondered if this uncertain future was the result of EA meddling or interference from the platform holders themselves.

Wee contacted Valve to clarify and their VP of marketing Doug Lombardi informed us that, "The platform holder owns the final call." So just as wee'd suspected, whether or not wee see these maps for free is indeed up to Sony and Microsoft.

RE: Team Fortress DLC Price Is Up To Microsoft And Sony
You know, I have heard stuff about stories similar to this.  Many times the developers want their DLC to be free and yet, M$ would end up selling it for a nice profit on XBL, sometimes splitting the bigger stuff into 2 DLs for same price each.  I remember hearing about this when the Gears maps came out.  M$ compromised and just had the maps on sale for about 2 months, and THEN put them out for free.  However, I know I remember hearing similar stories in the past.  I'd LOVE to be able to think forward about a game purchase before purchasing it vs another similar or equally appetizing title to decide which would get me more play and content, meaning that would give me more for the price I would be paying for this title vs the other.  Now, I just got to decide which will get me the more content, and hope I can afford to pay for each extra content when I want it, or I got to weigh the ending result after all DLC is added vs price, making everything a lot more complicated.  I doubt it'll ever be that way though.

I hate it when Microsoft does this!!!! Why can't it just be free? They make billions in profit anyway...

it kinda sucks for them that great economics does not always means sucess in the long run as the 360 is now loosing out to the ps3
