Yuri has better shot of having a story than ecchi...but agreed that ecchi anime only reason is to be ecchi for the ~~audience~~...guys. :p

I suppose by using it as a sub-genre such as Drama/Ecchi, Romance/Ecchi, etc. instead of Ecchi being the main, often the case being Ecchi/Comedy.

Again though, Ecchi isn't really a genre, just a description.

Interpreting "Ecchi" as "Indecent Exposure" - being purposely ecchi - IMO - is usually tasteless and boring. However it can be tasteful... and when it is, its more an appreciation for the artwork than the perversion.. and not usually referenced as Ecchi whatsoever.
