If you have the money to spend, why not?

I mean it'll be a better investment than spending £40 on a fan in any case.

Found the fan for £10 less hehe.

Sadly the processor was a bargain at the time I found it.. just didn't realize it. it's £220~ now.

£220 for 920?  You're doing something wrong... unless you're buying from a local shop for time and convenience reasons, then it's alright.

I can get a 930 (or a 1090T, same price) here for $354AUD = £205.  And Australia is in the middle of a goddamn ocean.

RE: Spec Suggestions
Small difference.  Volatility in exchange rates could be a significant factor in that.

RE: Spec Suggestions
It's also 930 vs 920.  930 being better ofcourse (2.8GHz vs 2.66GHz).

RE: Spec Suggestions
They're sold at exactly the same price (well Intel does, if stores make a difference between the two, it's probably to help clear out old stock).

Here's the i7 920 and i7 930 on Amazon.co.uk. Haha, the 930 is cheaper now.. these prices change too often.

Buy an 860 instead, £204.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-i7-860-Qua...215&sr=1-1

Performs pretty much exactly the same as a 930, which costs you £228.

EDIT: Wait, on the bottom of the 920 link you gave, there is "17 new from £210.00"....

Woa, lower TDP and support for DDR3-1333 as well. Cool, thanks Assassinator.

Strange lack of ASUS LGA1156 MoBos on Amazon UK... will need to pick one from .com then.

Was looking at specific chipset. My bad.

Asus P7P55D... couldn't see anything particularly benficial from the more expensive boards to justify their price...
