Kampfer isn't that bad in my mind.  These shows typically start off well but die after a while.  Kampfer managed to keep it up for 3 episodes, which I found rather surprising.  Did start dying down in episode 4 unfortunately.
Comedy isn't bad, especially if you're able to pick up the subtle jokes.  Has quite a few references - probably more, but I don't know that much anime (eg, I know episode 3 contains a parody of Marimite).

It's not commedy, it's pretty much just random fanservice.  They like completely discontinues the plot from the start in favor of "OMG, beauty contest.  OMG, boobs.  OMG, all these lesbians want me"... fuck it, going to start watching Kimi no Todoke.

Eh, difficult to say much as you clearly do favour story/plots.  These shows aren't designed for the storyline, so IMO, you can't judge it as such.
Clear example is Excel Saga.

Actually, I went to a music improvisation "lecture" about two months ago.  The guy reckons one of the biggest things that people often like is somewhat related to this referencing concept (eg "ah, I know that!").  This concept is often used in music, and I believe it extends to other forms of art too.

I'm not saying a show HAS to have storyline... more like, it has the be enjoyable (though stoyline really helps in making it enjoyable).  GTO has no storyline, but it sure as hell was enjoyable, and ranks good in my book anyway.

"OMG, beauty contest.  OMG, boobs.  OMG, all these lesbians want me" is more lame than enjoyable to me.  Maybe the 1st time it's enjoyable, but I've seen enough of that stuff.

No, it's not meant to be "OMG whatever".  That's the childish way of viewing things.

Should I go, "Elfen Lied is like OMG guns, OMG heads ripped off etc?" « that's just stupid.  If you take that stance, you can make anything seem lame.

You know what I'm talking about.  And in case you don't, I mean the whole show is pretty much just that stuff, and nothing else.  I mean it's ok to have fanservice, but if the whole show is fanservice and just that, that's not ok (at least to me, I'm sure plenty of other people will like it).

Elfen Lied is certainly not just guns and heads and nothing else.  Otherwise I certainly wouldn't have watched it through till the end.
