A cracked fingernail sounds painful.
But hey at least your computer is all fixed up now.

Zinga doesn't even use AV, neither does he install most windows updates.  Beat that.

Really... any AV should work just fine.

No it's awesome.  Absolutely nothing slowing the computer down.

I would do it too if I know I could.  In fact, I did do that for a period when I was using my mom's laptop, because that laptop is slowish, and anti-virus just makes it even slower, especially the bootup time.

But alas, I'm not confident enough to stay like that forever.  And unlike my mom's laptop, my desktop is pretty fast, so a lightweight AV doesn't really cause any noticeable inconvenience.

Sure but it depends on the websites visited.

Long story short a virus fried all my MBRs and I spent half the day fixing it^^

If you're gonna run an Antivirus then you may as well have a good one running. Facepalm

Not really...

What's more important what you click and what you download.

If you're really worried about websites, you could always use something like noscript (Firefox Addon).  I don't personally use it though, I find it too annoying.

I would just run the most light weight and unintrusive thing I can find, and not worry about detection rates.  These days I don't even get virus', never returned a positive in a long long time, so I could have just been running on nothing all that time.

Well it's all good now ain't it?

Do this: Stand up and run around in circles waving your arms in the air.

Now don't you feel better?

God, I should be one of those people you go to for help ;P

RE: A day of hell
The thing is I always have Real Time Protection turned off because of the slowdowns. Every morning I check my Task Manager and I immediately found and terminated the virus. Just I couldn't knew it messed with my MBRs, else I would have just rewritten them beforehand^^

You know that's what I meant. After all where do you go to download things (´=_=)

The fact you didn't really deal with it - considering it was a virus - leaves only yourself to blame here.

And these "slowdowns" I always hear about, I know they're real, but are they really as severe as you mention? Or is it really just MSE being poo poo?
