Mammon is referring to IE. The Beast Reborn is Firefox.

Use that to decipher this

Quote:Mammon slept. And the beast reborn spread over the earth and its numbers
grew legion. And they proclaimed the times and sacrificed crops unto the
fire, with the cunning of foxes. And they built a new world in their own
image as promised by the
sacred words, and spoke
of the beast with their children. Mammon awoke, and lo! it was
naught but a follower.

from The Book of Mozilla, 11:9
(10th Edition)

Ok... My attempt...

IE stopped development for a while. Firefox spread over time and it's user base grew many. Not too sure what the next part means... With smart development and marketing, Firefox has become the thing of the time (present). And they (Firefox) created a new standard for the web (new revolutionary features like tabs and plugins which IE never had before), and spread the news (of Firefox) across the world. IE finally released a new version, but it's actually nothing but catching up with what Firefox had and it lacked.
