Teachers hate me currently... I apparently broke the school's phne system and computer network on Tuesday morning by plugging in my laptop...

Don't see how... I've been trying to catch the tech guy so he can explain to me what exactly I did so I don't do it again...

If it breaks that easily then they need to get a new tech guy lol

QFT

and I found out last year that my school uses the same password for everything, absolutely everything. Now I can do anything. But having a conscience I would rather not.

I would but won't do anything that would get me into absolute trouble (but doesn't seem like there's anything)

heck if i had that type of power in my school i would run a mile away from it, i had to have a lecture from the head just because i changed our schools headteacher to barry scot and my friend got suspended just for formatting a PC, ok he deserved that but you get the point, you can only do what the school wants you to do on the PC's and if you find an exploit or something they haven't blocked they will come down on your donkey like a ton of bricks

diego said he knew the master password.

The difference between that and your case is that it is much much harder to catch him than you. You're using your own logon, own everything, and a simple check of the logs reveals all.

The possibility of the charger being dodgy does exist, but unlikely.
Our Uni actually requires you to have your charger tested before you're allowed to plug it in (I assume it's something you do voluntarily though - it's not like the librarians will check if you've got your charger verified) for this reason.

If you have admin access, remote shutdowns are good fun - remember to give it a countdown so people can't blame you for not being able to save their work.
I actually once shut down an entire room's computers with this once - was fun watching them try to figure out who did it (someone managed to cancel the shutdown on their machine and they got all the blame, lol) :P

Not electrically but software wise...

I apparently crashed the server somehow. From what I gather the school uses some kind of VoIP system for the phones within the building, meaning that stopped working when the server crashed. Though I don't see how plugging into the network to get some interwebs would do that. I've been doing it for a good while now and it's never caused any problems before. The worst hting I've done so far is send a 47 page document to the wrong printer. (I wonder what the library were thinking when the technical documentation for a database that runs a hotel loyalty scheme appeared from their printer...)

Meh, it seems to go down almost weekly so I don't see how this was such a biggie...

I remember the heyday of UnrealTournament in school. Whole computer rooms (in fact the one I'm in now) would be playing the same LAN game. One time the network gave out halfway through a game and "Connection Failed" appeared on every monitor in the room. That was epic...
