Exactly! Games need entertaining gameplay and/or a story that keeps the player playing, if one or both of these conditions are met, a graphics level like the one on the DS is all that is needed. "Next Gen" is too graphics focused. And to reply to the original message, I think the DS has the highest entertaining value in terms of games compared to PSP, PS3 and 360.

I just hope that when wee reach true "real-life" graphics in a few years, the focus will be finally go back to gameplay since there isn't anything else to improve otherwise then,

I like the portability of the NDS, and there are some games I quite enjoy. I don't like it as much as a PSP but it's not as bad as i thought it would be

RE: News about Nintendo Dual Screen (NDS)
but, as gaming becomes more popular its inevitable that the standard for games will fall...

Many current gamers missed the time when wee didnt have graphics, and a game was judged solely on its gameplay, story and charactersiation. As such they don't realise that wee are, in reality, all set for, but far from a golden age of gaming...

Won't say that's wrong or right.. It depends on the Publisher/Developer. For instance, Square Enix games have a very complex story and awesome graphics. On the other hand, the NFS series, just progressed graphically...

Wii is fun only when you have company to play with. For instance, Wii Sports is awesome for killing time with buddies. But the Wii is just not that powerful to support advanced graphics while simultaneously having that unique controls system... about the same for DS.

In general, PS3 games tend to more Single player (or rather, FPS) oriented, which is just not possible (to be at par with the other console), currently on the Wii. Almost the same for PSP and maybe even the Xbox (which sucks even more).

RE: News about Nintendo Dual Screen (NDS)
ps3, 360, psp all that isn't "next gen" once its out.. its current generation as its here now not next... as it depends on the game like stated above.. there are really damn good games coming out... such as persona remakes for psp.... and the new parasite eve game looks promising... but RPGs and FPS and even thrid person shooters need to step it up a bit.. killzone 2 for instance is awesome but not anything new or special, story and gameplay wise both.  if you want good games with good story then play indie games.. graphics are not ps3 and 360 good but if your just a graphics whore then this conversation shouldnt matter to you.. ps3 and 360 has a few good indie games too... ps3 had flower and that games is great! its relaxing and just fun to play and very pretty and the story is what you make of it... it has a very suttle story but there is one....

You know, i don't even consider Wii, DS is a gaming console now, too much stupid poo poo like "I did it mom" "Yoga" etc etc.

although i do enjoy my DS, occasionally there is some good games come out, played Jump Ultimate Star for almost a year, all good, there is The World ends with you,FFIII, IV, the new super robot taisen, etc etc, helped me kill some time,

( also rofl, the My Japanese Coach does work, i learnt some serious japanese there lol )

That's why you only play the good games.

And if you ask me, all consoles sucks.

Emulator and PC gaming all the way.
